A Night in Orlando

So I was in Orlando this weekend seeing a friend and hitting a show. And I got to explore Mills Ave a little bit, and hit a lil house party aswell, so I wanted to talk about my experience.

So basically, it was a 2 1/2 hour drive up there (SORRY TO MY FRIEND IF SHE SEE'S THIS, IT WAS LIKE A 5hr ROUND TRIP ;-;) but the drive was pretty enjoyable, and didnt even feel like it was that long tbh. Atleast for me, but tbf I was passanger princessing and only riding for like 2hrs instead of 5 lol.

We get there a little before the show starts, and my friend does her makeup. We went to go see a few really cool acts. It was at a venue called Stardust Live

First one was Strangelace, who I had known about for a while because she's also the vocalist of M.A.C.E. (stands for Men Are Controlling Everything, its a orlando-based feminist hardcore/queercore band) who i've seen a few times, and I love seeing live every time they come to Tampa. It was very fun.

Strangelace's solo stuff was VERY different from the fast, angry, hardcore shit she does with MACE. Her solo project is an ambient cello performance. It was amazing. Very ethereal and atmospheric. Her usage of dissonance and even some soft vocal melodies sounded amazing. It was fucking awesome!!!

After Strangelace was an artist called Platonic Valentine, who is a really cool Orlando based synthpop act. They was also really cool to see live. Some very energetic shit, some shit that felt almost more like some synth-indie shit, and some really slow and calm shit too. Insanely talented singer. Really cool music!

After Platonic Valentine was an artist called FisherPriceGuillotine. That was very fun!!!! It was like this really cool mix between gabber, industrial techno, and digital hardcore. Very energetic, very fun. THAT DUDE'S ENERGY ON STAGE IS FUCKING CRAZY!!!! Really fun, really energetic, really cool. Always love a good digital hardcore act, and this definitely hit that spot for me. Definitely wanna see him again if I come back up there (or if he comes down here).

After all that was the final act of that show. A really cool darkwave/goth artist called crimesididntcommit. Her act was very fun, and very cool. Although there were a lot of bubbles, which I dont like bubbles because the popping on my skin overwhelms me typically. Aside from that, the music was really cool, her stage persona is very interesting. She was definitely a fun one to see, if you ever can HIT A CRIMESIDIDNTCOMMIT SHOW!!!!

Once the show was done. Veronica (crimesididntcommit) invited me and my friend to an afterparty. The friend was friends with veronica so it wasnt surprising. We all met up down on Mills Ave, and had fun around there for a bit. Stopped in Lou's, then Grumpy's. They all got a drink, I'm straightedge and under 21 so I was there just kinda following em around and vibing to the techno music that was playing at Grumpy's.

Then we went to the afterparty, which Im not gonna talk too much about, but it was really fun (aside from this one dude who got kicked out for being a rapey piece of shit. Not hating to all the cishets, but the only cishet man at that party btw)

Aside from that one dude, everyone I met in Orlando was fucking amazing. I would absolutely love to visit there again, and I would love to hit more shows up there. The only reason I dont is because its like... 2 hours away and I dont have a car. It was really good meeting people up there tho. I will probably be back there again some time December.

The next posts will probably be about a Hardcore show at Lighthouse show I'm hitting on October 3rd, and a crust show at Noisemakers I'm hitting October 7th. Thanks for reading!!!! :D
