why is getting a job so hard

i haven’t applied for any jobs yet since most places won’t hire anyone under 16 who can only work after school and on weekends

however, my brother applied for a few jobs during the summer and he hasn’t been able to get one. i know they’re looking for certain people with certifications and stuff but like..? he’s not much older than me (he’s older than 16 tho) so he was trying to get his first job but i feel like most places won’t hire anyone with no experience, which obviously sucks cuz how are you supposed to get a job as a teen?

i want to be able to get a job soon for multiple reasons like: 1. helping support my family cuz only my dad works (my mom is trying to make her own business) 2. supporting myself and getting experience for when i move out 3. i only get $10/week (which i’m grateful for) from chores and i like collecting, i have stuff on preorder and i want to make sure i’ll be able to pay for it n stuff (this is more of a want not a need obvi) 4. i always feel bad when i go to the store w/ my dad and see how much groceries are, i wish i could help :( plus my parents have been talking abt like ā€œwe need to save money so we can pay billsā€ which worries the hell outta me (we’re ok rn tho!)

obviously since i haven’t applied for a job yet i don’t necessarily know firsthand how hard it is to get one, but..i feel like more people than normal are having problems getting or keeping jobs than the last few years?

i mean it definitely has to do with how the economy is rn :/ (in the u.s)

companies r cutting costs so they’re letting more people go/firing more people they deem ā€œless importantā€, or giving them less paid leave and vacation days

i feel like i’m mainly just worried about if i’ll ever be able to get a job.. if i can’t get a first job, how am i supposed to get experience? i also have severe social anxiety (to the point where i can seriously barely order my own food) so i can’t/don’t want to be in a position where i have to talk to people or make small talk yk?

i have thought about selling stuff/art or doing commissions online but that’s also hard bc art is subjective, i’m not professional, advertising and copyright are a pain in the ass, yada yada yada also what if the buyer doesn’t like it :( (+ taxes scare me—like i haven’t learned abt how to do them and i’m lit in high school </3)

sry if this doesn’t make sense or if the grammar is bad i’m tired rn

Be willing to do things other kids your age won’t do. You should really work on breaking your social anxiety, but you don’t need to talk to anyone to push a broom or clean out a basement. Find a mom n pop place nearby and introduce yourself and ask if they need any help. Even if it’s just a few hours per week to get your feet wet. A lot of younger guys near me make decent money detailing cars.
