Old Poetry - Sea and Sky

Sea and Sky

You’re the sea and I’m just a seagull

You push and pull

And I’m wishing I’m the moon

But I’m a dead man in your waves and you’re all I crave.

I can’t sink in your depths

Floating on the top, only taking shallow breaths

No one will ever see what is in the deepest part of you.

Everything collapses underneath all that pressure.

There are animals that can withstand all that weight. The beauty is unbeknownst to most.

Beauty I long to see

I know it’s there

I just don’t know where

You crush my fragile body underneath all that pressure

So now I’m just a dead man floating in your waves

And still

You’re all I crave.

For I am just a seagull

Making too much noise

Annoying and destructive

Yet still

Important to your ecosystem

Let me dive

For without you I would not thrive

Above you I cry and cry

Yet

Your gentle lapping of waves drown me out

And still you’re all I crave

We are worlds away

You are sea and I am sky

We meet but we do not collide

Only coexist

Gentle zephyrs and roaring winds

Seething seas and crests of waves

We are strong powerful elements

Yet

Your embrace is all I crave

Each and every day

You leave me in such disarray

You are my grave

For I am a dead man, a seagull, the wind

And you. The Ocean

let me drown in your depths

For I. Am your dead man.
