Subculture-related or not, comparing yourself to others typically does more harm than good. I for one struggle with this myself, but all I can say is just do research on the subculture and try your best to follow their culture, norms, and style. (Of course, only if you yourself align with them)
I knooo... I usually try meh best to reasearch n stuff, but i dont wanna feel liek im miss-identifying anything cuz I absolutly <3 the style, music, culture, everything!!
