American Politics

It’s surprising how toxic American politics has gotten in the last decade. I’m 18, and even with how young I was when Obama was president, I still remember how swiftly the climate switched from it being normal to be cordial with those who disagree with you to wishing death on them becoming expected. 

I’m not the most political person, but it’s insane to me. Now keep in mind I’m not talking about the majority of either party, but the extremists on both sides. I truly believe that the way politics is currently will lead to catastrophe. Everyone on either side mainly thinks of the other’s extreme minority, which makes them feel the need to be stricter with what they believe in order to combat or protect their belief. 

This “me vs. you” mindset is horrible to have, and I only started noticing it when MAGA became popular. Again, not the average American, but MAGA. Even trying to be vaguely neutral to them, I have seen so much hate come from them—and keep in mind that I completely understand there are plenty of extremist liberals as well, but their extreme is generally OVERLY accepting (progressive), while the republican extreme is generally SUPER traditional (regressive). 

I feel like this stuff is alr known but everyone I know is super trump loving so it’s hard to talk about my opinion on stuff like this 😭
