True crime rant

Ok rant abt true crime stuff cus yayyy I love speaking into the void

I dont really get the "true crime listers are psychopaths with no empathy!" Because I feel like I've developed a better sense of empathy when I started listening, I regularly have to skip or fast forward episodes because it's too sad/graphic for me and I feel like lots of other listeners can relate to this, and I've never met a true crime listener who isn't outraged by most jail times people receive (5 years for r@ping and killing a girl? And he's a repeat offender? Come on U.S justice system, come on.) I feel like it's just a made up statistic at this point, I totally get it if you don't like true crime but you don't need to insult people who do. 

also, it makes me so angry where in cases people will blame the parents for 'not seeing the signs' because like, think about it. Nobody wants their kid to be evil,  I understand when the signs are genuine threats or evidence found but someone liking to kill bugs isn't a sign. Sure, they've got some weird hobbies but that's not enough to be a killer, and what do you want the parents to do? "Hello 911? My kid likes collecting animal bones and wearing them!!1!1 arrest them!" 

Idk if this makes sense at all I've got a major headache (thx so much menstrual cycle) and I'm tired af. Thx for reading my rant bye bye
