Professor Layton is a great game series if you enjoy puzzles, and now is a great time to get into the series since there's a new game in development for the Switch! I hear the DS version of Sonic Colours is pretty good as well, and Style Savvy/Style Boutique is pretty solid if you're looking for a fashion/dress-up game :3
might be a little obscure but "retro games challenge" is a super cool concept where you play as this kid and his friend gives you challenges to complete in retro nes games it's really neat. Resident evil deadly silence (ha) is an amazing port of the original game with some new bells and whistles its awesome. The world ends with you is a really stylish rpg, tetris ds and pvz ds are fun time waster ports, oh I just started this visual novel called hotel dusk thats really cool
Sonic Rush is so great! (i 100% it on my nintendo ds lite) I would reccomend the other Sonic Rush game on the DS (i don't remember how its called tho) since its much more enjoyable and it is a bit more polished than the original one :3

It depends on if its the actual ds or 3ds. Ds games here's some I love
Cooking Mama: cooking game where mama gets mad at you if mess up wich gets me mad in a funny way
Wappy Dog: a bit niche but you their was a robot dog toy with the game and you well raise a Wappy (robot dog) and play minigames!
Mario ds and mario Kart: Im a mario fan what can I say
any pokemon game on ds or 3ds
a little interesting but digimon world ds is fun
and that's just a few on the top of my head! enjoy the ds I love my dsi and old 3ds a lot. Also consider modding it if you're into that kinda stuff.
