I'm sure as many of you are aware, My Chem just announced a new leg for the North America tour last week, giving fans a mere seven days to prepare for yet another expensive stadium tour. Given what the characters and the tour represents, the oppressive authoritarian regime of Draag, you would expect that message to reflect the band's own values. Except it hasn't. Not really.
I have a few major complaints about this band and their tour. For one, they decidedly left dynamic pricing on. And while I understand that this tour (advertising, the stadiums, traveling) is most definitely very expensive, the current economic state of this country is less than ideal. Unemployment rate is higher than it was two years ago, and most people are working minimum wage jobs, and they cannot afford to spend thousands of dollars on tickets, especially when you consider that a majority of this band's fanbase are teenagers. I saw them in September, and my tickets (2) were nearly $900, and I was not even close to the stage.
Another huge complaint I have is the total lack of any non-white people on their team. It just feels strange to me that a group of cisgender white men are acting out an oppressive society, and IĀ feel like having anyone who is not a white male on their team (minus the actors/singers for Marianne and Sylvia) would have a deeper and more powerful meaning, considering what the characters are meant to represent...
My last complaint ties into the one before, where no one in the band has tried to speak out for non-white people. Sure, they advocate for the queer community, but queer people aren't the only marginalized people out there. Not to mention that Frank has still not apologized for that lizard thing he posted, accident or not. How hard is it to say, "I'm sorry"?
I love this band with all my heart, but I think us fans need to stop worshiping them, because they are, unfortunately, very flawed. Concerts should not be a luxury afforded only to the wealthy.

i agree especially with the ticket pricing but it really has been an overall music industry problem as well. its just dissapointing to know that so many people who love their music won't ever be able to see them live because concerts just aren't affordable when it comes to popular bands anymore :(
it is definitely a music industry problem, but i kind of wish they'd followed in the footsteps of robert smith and fought to turn off dynamic pricing. the baseline price for pit tickets in most venues was $1,000 a piece :/

Unfortunately such is the state of major corporate-owned bands. To me they sold out after Bullets when they signed to a corporate label owned by Warner. Ethics wise I cannot and will not expect much from this kind of band. DIY4ever :>

no this is so valid !! theyve been getting lots of backlash bc of the pricing and i feel like its important to note that theyre 1) owned by an evil record label ( warner records ) ( i THINK ) and 2) how things like dynamic pricing are standard for popular events; like their tour rn

whats the lizard thing ?
He made a joke in an Instagram comment that carries antisemitic weight, and clearly it was meant as a harmless joke, but he never apologized for it despite being called out. I can't post images so here's basically what it was:
(Random user): I heard that frankieromustdie is a reptilian.
Frank: You got me... sadly not the kind that's part of a new world order, i can however save you 15% or more on your car insurance.
Obviously it's a joke about Geico but lizard people have been used as an antisemitic propaganda tool which portrays Jewish people as parasitic and cold blooded, and the joke about insurance kind of carries the weight of Jews running global finance/media, which is what it stemmed from

I'm not trying to be too woke about it either lmao I understand the joke he was trying to make, but people are just angry that he never apologized for it or addressed it which was the point I was trying to make

I think literally the same thing about this concert, but fortunately I think I'm going with the less priced ticket, and It's gonna be my first concert !
well, maybe here in Italy it's a bit different, yeah, and in fact I feel really bad for people in countries where concert tickets (or others) are really high priced :(
