my thoughts on Neo Yokio

it kinda rules, actually.

punks get it, and fake bitches think it was Jaden Smith's pet project as opposed to him being just someone who auditioned for a role and got it

the show isn't even subtle about the way it references Gibson and apes Stephenson's sardonic concept of an alternate America. the show was created by frontman Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend. you know, a punk band.

the most common criticism I hear about the show is how the protagonist is extremely unlikable and it's like yeah, that's the fucking point. he's the top scum in a dystopia. you're not supposed to like him. at least not until towards the end, when he says "I'm starting to think Neo Yokio's not the greatest city in the world."
