Shampoo and What it is Really...

Shampooing your hair is a normal part of your showering routine right? Well, Today we are going to look into shampoo and what it really does to/for your hair.

“Shampoo is designed to clean the scalp and remove excess oil. But if it's overused or if you work it all the way down the length of your hair, shampoo can damage your hair. Shampoo strips the important oils the scalp produces and can leave the hair and scalp too dry." - HealthLine said.

When shampooing your hair excessively it dries out the scalp causing more oils to be produced. This will cause your hair to look oily or become oily faster. Which causes you to wash your hair again. And the routine continues. I have been on a journey of only washing my hair 1 time a week with shampoo (with sulfate-free shampoo - we will look into that later). Only wetting it and using conditioner when I shower and using dry shampoo when needed. I have seen such a big difference in my hair, shiner, growing faster, stronger, and most importantly less GREASY!

Most shampoos contain sulfate(s) which are detergents. This is why shampoos lather, MaximumHair.com reports that sulfates also slow the rate of new hair growth by about 8 times slower than normal. Sulfates can irritate eyes, skin, and lungs, especially after a long time of use.

Did you know: Two main types of sulfates are used in shampoo: sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate
