A guide on it and when and when not to if I ever have kids which I honestly don't want I'll teach them this
The "Mind Your Business" Tier (e.g., vaping, minor drama): The official policy becomes one of discretion. Students are encouraged to handle it themselves or ignore it. There is no mandatory reporting. This validates the "don't snitch" code for minor issues.
The "Get Help" Tier (e.g., bullying, depression, substance abuse): This is for problems where a peer is in trouble or hurting. The new system creates a clear, confidential path to a trusted adult (like the school counselor) for the purpose of helping, not punishing.
The "Sound the Alarm" Tier (e.g., weapons, credible threats of violence, assault): This tier mandates immediate reporting to any adult. The policy would state that for issues of life and safety, the "don't snitch" code is null and void, and protecting the community is everyone's responsibility.
