i miss the 2000s/2010s

i can’t help but feel like i don’t belong in 2025. it feels so weird, so dystopian. i miss old music. i miss my old house. i miss the way life used to feel. everything has felt off since 2020, & i know i can’t be the only one who feels this way. i have to give up social media (specifically snapchat, instagram, & tiktok) it is so incredibly toxic. i ordered a barbie flip phone & i can’t wait to use it instead of my cracked iphone. i just wish i could go back in time, though. living in the 2020s is so depressing; i only listen to old music, & watch old shows & movies, they’re some of the few things that give me joy still. i just feel like i don’t belong anywhere anymore. i never thought time would go by so fast.

I feel the exact same way as you. Everything has been "off" to me since 2015, though.

I'd say 2015 is when the big shift really occurred, at least from my own observations and life circumstances as an 8 - 9 year old child throughout that particular year. It was like the fun atmosphere and spark of life had just suddenly vanished, and I honestly can't really explain it, though I'm starting to think technology may have had something to do with it, as that was coincidentally the same year my household got a tablet and the family computer was "upgraded" to Windows 10 (on Windows 7 hardware, of course, and I firmly believe that software "upgrade" is what eventually ended up killing that laptop over a year later, but that's another story).

I feel the same. It feels like its rapidly getting worse too with the amount of AI surrounding our lives at this point. I recently gave up most of my socials too. I try to be optimistic but in my head I know the world I knew is long gone.

It really sucks seeing how excited people are over gen AI without I think realizing how detrimental it's going to be to their own capacity in the long run
