I've always wanted to pursue an English Literature major, but my dad's like, "noooooooo the campus is too far," so here I am, in English Education and still living with my parents :/ It's not all bad tho'. Well, I mean, my classmates are kinda... eh... no offense, ik we live in a somewhat third-world-country, but y'all got the entire internet in your hand and STILL rely on Google Translate and ChatGPT to write your papers??? Like, dude, we're in THE 3RD SEMESTER of COLLEGE. PLEASE have some dignity and learn the language for real, our lecturers ain't gonna baby your ass forever.

Just yesterday, we were tasked to review each other's essays (typed and printed), and my reviewer asked for the soft file of my essay to translate it??? using ChatGPT??? HOW DID YOU SURVIVE???? We've got linguistics for a course in our 1st semester, and this girl still whines about not understanding English. GIRL, YOU CHOSE THIS MAJOR!!!

Anyway, I also got interviewed to join a debate club in uni, and I did great, I think. Also, damn, I read tarot for someone ONCE after the pre-training, and the entire club now knows me as the "Tarot Reader Successor", since apparently, there's a senior in the club who also reads tarot (I chatted with her in gc for a couple of times and she seems chill, also got similar interests as me, what are the chances she's also here? lol)

Got nothing else to say since today's a day off... Yesterday, technically... Wait, does that mean that the essay thing was the day before yesterday, then? Eh, whatever.

Today's morning class was practically non-existent. Our morphosyntax lecturer got some business, but we still had to attend the class OFFLINE and do group presentations ugggghhhh yeah my group already went up last week, but it's so booooooooring just listening to the others :( I know because my group's material was as boring as theirs.

After that, I had to give a presentation with my group in drama class, and let me tell you, for a drama lecturer, that woman was the most boring person everrrrr. Not only that, she could BARELY form an English sentence with correct grammar and pronunciation, like, HOW are you even a lecturer in our department??? T-T

Then. there was an online speaking class. I fell asleep.

 Notes 

The first group that presented their material for morphosyntax barely even knew what they were talking about. 90% of their examples were just straight up wrong. Anyway, they're supposed to explain conversion. So, what's conversion? Conversion's basically a process of forming a new word from an existing word without adding any affixes. For example, the word "hand," which is a noun, and people often say "hand me (item), please," which turns the word "hand" into a verb! :D Easy, right? Let's run some more examples:

• Dance (noun) > Dance (verb) in "What a beautiful dance!" > "May I dance with you?"
• Run (noun) > Run (verb) in "I run to the station." > "I did a morning run."
• Wealthy (adjective) > Wealthy (noun) in "She's a wealthy CEO." > "The wealthy live on the oppression of the poor."
• Gold (noun) > Gold (adjective) in "I mined for gold." > "She wears a gold ring."
• Mature (verb) > Mature (adjective) in "He will mature eventually." > "She's very mature for her age."
• Smooth (adjective) > Smooth (verb) in "This is a smooth silk." > "I smooth out my blanket."

Fun fact: Most new slang today is a product of conversion, specifically verbification! Few examples are ghost and beef :D

The second material we're gonna discuss today is-- whoa, it's 00:10 AM now here, the day has changed! Lmao. Okay, back to it. Clipping! Clipping is a process of shortening the beginning, middle, or end of a word without changing its meaning. This is easy, guys, we find this everywhere! Laboratory? Lab. Gymnasium? Gym. Those two are clipped at the beginning of the word. Influenza? Flu. Refrigerator? Fridge. Middle clips! Then, there's telephone turned into phone. Airplane? Plane! Those are end clips! Yeah, so clipping is very productive (still used commonly) in the English language :D

Alright, last part of the note. We're gonna talk about blending! Blending is a process of combining two or more words into one to make a new word. A shortened word in a blend word is called a splinter, and shortening it is called splintering. There's a total and partial blend, and I think it'll be easier to show examples to better understand them lol.

1. Total Blend (all words are splintered in the process)

   a. Beginning + End > Brunch = Breakfast + Lunch

   b. Beginning + Beginning > Internet = International + Network

2. Partial Blend (one full word blended with a splintered word)

   a. Full + Splintered > Dumbfound = Dumb + Confound

   b. Splintered + Full > Emoticon = Emotion + Icon

   c. Sandwich > Adorkable = Adorable + Dork

And that's all for today's notes! :D Idk how it is in the US or UK, but don't these seem like something you learn in high school...? I'm pretty sure I had figured these out before college, but I guess I am still in the 3rd semester. Oh, well!

I'M BACK IN THE FUCKING BUILDING AGAIN!!!! Yes, yes, the 4th season... The last episode is next week... Damn, tbh? The season didn't really feel like it, idk, existed? Wait I just remembered I haven't watched the 12th eps, hold on...

Alright, back to it, it's 03:30 now y'all I gotta speedrun this I need sleep I HAVE CLASSES TODAY!! This episode got absolutely carried by the VAs, man. Okay, sure, there are some heartwarming scenes at the end, but it still doesn't feel like the OSMT I used to know and love. Maybe that's the message, huh, everything'll change, they gotta change, I gotta change...

I still think ep 11 was the best in the season, tho'. I can't believe it took this far for them to do a body-swap episode lol (not counting the one with Jyushimatsu and his dog). But I guess it could be a sign that they're running out of material, so they had to resort to such a cliche? Basically, this season didn't excite me too much. I very much appreciate the iromatsu content in ep 12, still.

What DID excite me was that my younger sister decided to get into OSMT, so we marathoned the series + movies, and I'm so so glad I finally have 1 person irl I can talk about this with :'D. But knowing the kind of people in the debate club, I might have a chance!!! to have another friend to yap about this!!!!!! Here's hoping!!!!!!!!

I need to sleep so bad but I need to mention this too. You guys watched the Knights of Guinevere pilot yet?? It's SO COOL!!! SO GOOD!!! It really does feel like someone's world built with passionate love and hatred simultaneously. I love itttt I love ittt!!! I need 3 seasons with 24 eps each now!!!! I also love reading all the analysis on Twitter aaughoughh.

I redownloaded this game just for the sake of getting the new limited Arknights collab E.G.O.s.... ESPECIALLY GREGOR'S NEW E.G.O.,!!!! PLEASEEEE I JUST WANT ANOTHER FORM OF MY BEAUTIFUL COCKROACH MALEWIFE TO COME HOME, but what do i get??? Exactly!!! NOTHING!!!!!!! This is what I get for pulling snake gregor in 20 pulls last time.
