I was unaware of the pickle menu until today. I'm not on mainstream social media nor do I engage with any websites where I would run into ads on the regular. I live essentially in a bubble, so I only learned about the KFC pickle when some friends brought it up in our chat today.
They mentioned that they believed it was a Canada only promotion, so they asked if I would try it. No one confirmed if it was actually Canada only or not, but I was hungry and I'm a fiend for pickles... so of course I tried it.
I'm not too big a fan of KFC's chicken, or fried meat in general. I originally wasn't going to get the chicken sandwich included in the promotion, instead opting for the loaded fries and pickle chips. However, when I went to order I was told they were out of the chips, so I ended up getting the sandwich to complete the combo. My mother was in the car, so I could try a bite and give her the rest.
Of course, the first thing I tried was the Pepsi. The Pickle Pepsi. It doesn't come pre-mixed- They serve you a regular Pepsi with a little wiggle room at the top, and give you about a shot glass worth of pickle juice on the side.

(Yes, there are pickle slices floating in the juice.)
Maybe I'm biased. I love pickles and am generally sensory-seeking when it comes to flavours. But I loved the pickle Pepsi. There was a very small pickle to Pepsi ratio, so it was essentially Pepsi with a pickle aftertaste. It was really nice and refreshing honestly. 10/10.
The sandwich I didn't like as much. I knew I wouldn't like it as much, but it was straight disappointing. There was what seemed to be a dill mayonnaise on it, but the flavour was... lacking. And there was only one pickle on the whole sandwich. Not enough pickles to satisfy me, just felt like a regular chicken sandwich, 2/10.
Finally I got the loaded fries. These had the same dill mayo (I think) as the sandwich, but I think they put more of it on these so the flavour was more intense. The fries were also dusted in similar flavoured powder you'd find on dill pickle potato chips, and they had what seemed to be pickle flavoured flakes? Maybe chips? On them. They were nice and I was pleased with the pickle flavour being what was promised, but I wish it was less of an artificial flavour and more of a fresh pickle flavour. 7/10.
All in all... If you're like me and like drinking the pickle juice out of the jar once its empty, yeah I'd recommend trying the promotion. If you're not in Canada, apparently Sonics has something similar going on? It is truly pickle girl autumn.
