This year has been tough, between my hectic work schedule and health problems, I lost a lot of my energy to do much in my practice. But, this Mabon I really wanted to do something, so I kept it low-key. I usually see a lot of videos on the sabbats and witchcraft in general that are so aesthetically pleasing and so performative. I admit, there were times it made me feel like my practice wasn't enough, especially when I have been too busy with work and health issues to really put that much energy into my practice. Despite that, I didn't want to let let social media make me feel bad for not having some grandiose ritual or aesthetic spell work for Mabon this year.

My evening consisted of a shower that I used as a self cleansing ritual, cleaning and clearing my kitchen of any stagnant energy with my mini cinnamon stick besom before I lit a big red candle, put a simmer pot on the stove with herbs and florals that I added with intent, and made myself some black tea with rose and chamomile to relax and reflect on myself. Even though it wasn't much, and I was wearing my pajamas, it was probably the most stressful free celebration of a sabbat I have ever had since I started on my path in 2011. Normally, even before the rise of witchtok, I felt I HAD to have elaborate rituals for the sabbats, dress up and make sure I had all sorts of fancy tools, candles, and a big fancy grimoire to be able to call myself a real witch. When I did that, I usually spent a majority of my time stressing over perfection and if I had the right colors for this and the best tools to ensure my practice was legit. This was the first time I ever felt truly relaxed and felt so comfortable and happy while celebrating a sabbat. The house smelled so nice and made myself and my fiancé feel so cozy and relaxed, my tea was so good and I felt so nice just sitting in my corner chair thinking back on myself this year and releasing thoughts that didn't serve me.
