coldtown checklist

hey freaks! today im gonna go over some things youll need if you, like me, want to run away to a coldtown. i have my bags all packed and i have friends on the inside, so ive got some pretty good sources for this. of course, never run away if youre not entirely sure. once you get in, its near impossible to get out.

on the off chance you dont know what a coldtown is, well.. what rock have you been living under, babe? go find lucien moreau's livestream, its absolutely dazzling. coldtowns are where vampires have been quarantined since the big outbreak. the parties are the envy of all who crave a scrape with death or the metallic smell of blood. theyre the places to find life eternal or a glamorous death. what more could one ask for? ill make a post about why i want to run away in more detail some other time.

okay, now, the list:

1. money, obviously. cash, specifically! youve really gotta commit and save if you wanna do this. its very difficult to get resources once youre in a coldtown, so money is an excellent thing to have. 

2. trade supplies. anything anybody there might want. theres not a lot of luxury there, so.. yeah. and medical supplies are highly prized, especially otc medicine like painkillers.

3. food. canned food, water, etc. you can find these in coldtowns too, but.. its better to have some of your own when youre starting off, so bring some. these can also be valuable for trades.

4. power/light/electricity. batteries, flashlights, chargers, your devices, a solar generator, etc. its gonna be really hard to get electricity. a lot of the utilities for any place youll find starting off have been cut for a long time. youre gonna wanna be able to maintain your connections-- which leads to my next point.

5. connections! friends are a great thing to have in any situation, but especially here. its a tiring journey to get into a coldtown, and itll help to have a place to crash that you know is safe while youre still establishing yourself. use the forums and blogs to connect with others. maintain these even after youre established. you want as many friends as you can have, but also be sure to be careful where you place your trust. there are backstabbers out there, and a coldtown is a dangerous place to be betrayed.

6. self-defense. if something happens, you need to be able to protect yourself. many people suffer in coldtowns. if youre well-off (relatively.. few people in the coldtowns really are well-off) then you may be a target for muggings. theres also some gang violence on the inside. be careful. if were gonna die, let it be beautiful at least.

7. medical supplies. if you get injured, be able to patch yourself up. and youll definitely want venipuncture supplies (sterilization like alcohol, bleach, a lighter, etc. and clean cannulas, which is a hollow needle and tubing). vampires arent gonna just turn you, youve gotta prove yourself first. otherwise, youre just messing up their food chain. 

8. anything that makes you you! your talents and your clothes.. you need to stand out to the vampires, or youll never prove yourself. why should somebody boring live forever? also, if you wanna get into the higher profile parties, youve gotta have a look. be bold, be glamorous, stand out. 

9. last but not least, a buddy. this one isnt so necessary, but it helps. you wont wanna be alone on this journey, its good to have somebody going with you. but do NOT force anybody. make sure that theyre sure. you cant risk somebody elses life just because. but i know i wouldve given up a long time ago without onyx abyss, so have somebody to lean on.
