Art dump 2020 - 2022

Here's a collection of some of my art I made during the pandemic.

A Reflection of Heart (2021)

The first year of the pandemic was very hard for me, and making art of any kind was a helpful exercise to keep me sane.

11th Birthday (2021)

This was made for a friend's dog's 11th Birthday. I really like how this one turned out, especially the colors.

Only Tears Make A Blue Rose Bloom (2021)

I was at my lowest point when I made this piece. I was spiraling and felt like I didn't know what to do about anything. This was used in my book, Dreams In Eigengrau, which you can get here, or read for free here. Unlike every other piece of art in the book, this was the only one made before I started working on the book.

Kenta (2020)

I took Japanese language studies as my major when I went back to college, so I've always had a love for Japanese culture and traditions. But even before that, I loved Tanuki's, and I'm not ashamed to say, because of their big balls, lol.

Raichu & Onyx (2020)

I've been playing the Pokemon games since Gen 1. While I love most of the Pokemon gens, 1 and 2 will always have a special place in my heart. Raichu is my favorite, with Onyx coming somewhere in the top 10. I was always disappointed as a kid with my first game, Pokemon Yellow, because you couldn't evolve Pikachu! So I traded him to my Red version, evolved him, and then traded him back. I wish they would make more Raichu stuff.

Switch Time (2022)

Pretty simple, I was excited to finally get a Switch, lol. Here are the characters from some of my favorite games. The drums from Taiko no Tatsujin, Samus Aran from Metroid Dread, and Kirby from Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

Hell Shit & Friends (2020)

Jigokuso is a concept that was born out of just messing around. I attempted to make it into a webcomic at one point, but never made it happen. Maybe someday.

Chocobo & Moogle Drawing Study (2021)

The only physical art here. While working at Square-Enix, I had the immense pleasure of being able to take a drawing class with the legendary Toshiyuki Itahana, the character designer for my favorite Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy IX (9). These were the two pieces he had us do, he even followed me on Twitter after I posted these originally!

The Dope (2021)

This is probably my favorite piece of art done for Dreams In Eigengrau. Featuring the white cat from the short story, The Dope. It might be the best thing I've ever done, insofar as it's the one thing from beginning idea to finished piece that looks exactly how I pictured it in my head.
