Bern's Music Taste Expansion Journey

in the past 2 recent years ive started to expand my music taste since i usually listen to the usual tyler, doom, kanye, and etc. with this journey to expand my music taste also came with more self discovery and its still going on as well. 

my first dive into this journey was jpegmafia. my uncle recommended me to take a listen to kingdom key and obviously  being a kingdom hearts fanboy i had to listen. it was totally magical first listen. the chaotic beat with the choice of sampling as well made crave more. i dived more and more into his discography finding so much of his masterful production but the project that is my life support is I Lay My Life Down For You. 

ILMLDFY genuinely one of the best albums of all time (i am being so fucking serious) its chaotic, underground, punk, and rough energy mixed in with rap is so unique. jpeg raps through all the masterful beats like no one else can his bars aren't the best but when your listening to jpeg the last thing that matter is bars. i love this rebellious album with all of my heart it taught me to actually stand up for myself and fuck what everyone thinks. i give this a listen even if you don't like rap at all. favorite track: SIN MIEDO

theres so much i can say about jpegmafia music but this will turn into bern love jpegmafia blog post. jpeg music really adjusted my ear to be more open with music especially alternative rap as well. another alternative rapper i discovered and i love is MIKE.

MIKE is a rapper who on comparison is the perfect mixture of MF DOOM and Earl Sweatshirt. my first song was burning desire and oh my god i feel in love to a point i needed to more of his music. i tapped into his Burning Desire album and i loved every second of it and i heavily regret not discovering him way earlier. favorite track: Burning Desire

but the album that shocked me to my core is Pinball 2.

Pinball 2 is a trap album that front to back was heavenly. I love this album so fucking much. I dwelled into trap a little bit this year with Chef Keef and Juicy J but MIKE showing off with trap? oh yeah i'm all in. the production on this album is so fucking good and the feature list was perfect. the album is a fucking slam dunk of vibes MIKE keeps on impressing me more and more with every song that he makes. favorite track: Sin City

i want wrap this up blog up with someone song's that have been in my head for a while. 

kaystrueno is a hyperpop rap that actually is better than most soundcloud rappers. jokes aside he is a 8/10 headphone rapper that i have been bumping in my car for the past 2 weeks. i discovered one his song HOMESIK but didn't think much about him but one day i wanted to see what he had in store. being a soundcloud rapper he only has 2 albums and a shit ton of singles. 

but i so far really like him he stands out with his kingdom hearts sampling (yes i am easy) and stuttering sound effect on his songs. only bad thing he hasn't post any new music in 2 years. he has really good potential to do bring the spot light on the hyper pop rap scene. favorite track: 2B/WHATUNEED
