My dance class start back up on the week of the 8th, so I suppose we're already in it. I missed THREE of my FOUR classes that weak due to an...injury? No, I don't know what to call it. I messed up my neck. Either way, I did the full set this week, so I get to yap
This year I started doing ballet, that's the class I was able to make both weeks. It was awful week 1 because I knew nothing he was saying, but I'm trying very hard. This week was way better though, because I knew what'd happen. I'm in a beginners' class with a bunch of other women, so I don't mind. I'll be so pretty once I truly get the hang of it, it'll help my body control
Then in one day I have 2 classes; jazz and musical theater. I've gone to this teacher before, and know the people, so that was nice, but GOD I'm out of shape.
During the summer I did a musical, but my role very RARELY danced, so I don't have that boost I did when I started last year.
Anyways, jazz was mostly just a workout. Absolute SLOG. My balance is off, my ankles are weak, it was messy. My control has slipped some, at least for across the floor work. But my skill I've worked on to pick up choreo quickly has stuck, so that's really good!
Then there's musical theater. That was better, far gentler on me. A bit of stretching, then we worked on some choreo. We're learning one from 'The Crapshooters' Dance' from Guys and Dolls. It's fun bit of choreo, I like it!
Then, my last class of the week, my hip-hop class. A lot of our dancers from last year have moved up a level or just aren't here yet I think, so I was worried, but it was really fun! I love our teacher (same from last year) and her early year combinations are fun to do. I like hip-hop more, cause I can be more heavy handed with it.
I'm not nearly as scared this year as I was last year. I dropped my ballroom dancing this year too, which relieves some stress. The teacher was lovely, but she scared me a bit. WONDERFUL woman though, and my salsa classes cancelled last year anyway because my teacher wanted to retire. Well played, SeƱor, well played
I fear I may need to start working out again, I think it'll help. I need to build my strength and stamina back up. I don't want to think about fixing my meal issues, it's enough for me that I'm eating at all. School started back up this week too, so I've been in a tizzy. I really should go work on it, but I may not. I'll probably make an entry about my schoolwork too, but that's it for my dump about dance!!
