First Day on SpaceHey/ Deleting Insta/ Locking In

Hey, I'm Kie. I'm a 17 year old guy from Australia, about to be completing the final exams which set me up for my whole future </3 Oh, and it's my first day on this site! Hi guys XD

Honestly, I've been kinda enamoured by the 2000s (myspace, livejournal, the music, the fashion etc) for years atp so when I found out about this site I was so hyped to start customising my page and begin living out my romanticised dream life as a myspacespacehey teen haha. So, I thought I'd dive straight in with this blog post.

Around last week, I deleted insta to stop wasting my time each morning- I found myself checking the app for even up to 30 mins after I woke up, and tbh that was not the bright start I wanted for my days... let's say I would not be catching that worm if I kept that up XD I wouldn't say I'm really the type to be doomscrolling though. Generally, I don't like to consume what I consider to be 'trash' content, I know what I like (usually art posts and stuff from my friends), but at a certain point the posts turn into reels and then I'm unintentionally doomscrolling content that is still genuine, with effort put into it but nevertheless not the greatest use of my time ESP WITH EXAMS AROUND THE CORNER AUGHHHH :") ah, such is the curse of modern social media...

Upon deleting it ofc there were a few cons: not seeing posts from my irls, and missing the cool art my mutuals and fav artists would be posting from my art acc :"0 ofc I can just ask my friends what they've been doing recently in #reallifeconversation but aw well, the latter is a sacrfice which must be made for the #LOCK IN.

Speaking of locking in, even though I haven't been distracted by insta I've instead found myself productive in seemingly all facets of my life apart from schoolwork. I've been levelling up in art a ton, fuelled by my naruto fixation (I would like to note that I have also banned myself from watching naruto alongside insta hehe) and I've been reading a couple books recommended by my friend (namely, 'paradise rot' by jenny hval and 'the lamb' by lucy rose, which were both intensely intersting! very unique and I'd like to read more along their lines (hahahahhaha book pun hahahahaa)). Anyway, the point is that I haven't been doing any of the maths I should've been and now I'm feeling so guilty because time is running out and in a way I'm actively failing myself and dashing my potential............ I keep telling myself that I WILL do the work but for some reason I keep making excuses, and while some are valid... well, you know. It's not good. FINAL EXAMS ARE NOT THINGS I CAN PROCRASTINATE PLEASEEEEEEEE. I'll update this blog to keep myself accountable about my work haha :") I'm getting desperate to focus my productivity towards school now. I WILL DO MY SCHOOLWORK I WILL I WILL I WILL. A BIT EVERY DAY!!!!!!!!

I'll top off the blog with some positives haha

- I'm applying for a job in Japan after graduation! I really hope that my skills and presentation are enough to get me in, though I'm a tad worried about my youth :")

- I started listening to Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park this week, after remembering the Rock Lee v Gaara In the End vid, and my friend recommending it to me (a different one this time) I forgot how PEAK it was! My fav song today is 'A Place For My Head' BUT DAMN THEY'RE ALL SO GOOD

- Since I'm not looking at my phone as much, I genuinely have been enjoying nature more, as cliche as that is...

- This week, my friends and I have been calling and talking a lot. I love my friends <3333 We're all gonna graduate soon and go down different paths, but I really hope that we keep calling often and catching up. Ik my YA(H)TZYs are all real ones!

Alright, that's it from me tonight

Paradise Rot and The Lamb mentioned!! glad you enjoyed them lol. I just finished reading Nails and Eyes and I recommend it. I think Paradise Rot and The Lamb were freakier but Nails and Eyes treads the horror line very finely and it was pretty good! It's length is roughly the same as Paradise Rot too so it's a quick read
