Peel My Grapes, Please - Storytime

One kind action can be ingrained in someone's memory for a lifetime. I find comfort thinking of the times people have been kind to me: times people have cared enough to stop and help me with things, the times people chose to be understanding instead of getting upset with me, times people have sacrificed their time and belongings for me, have simply desired to spend quality time with me, times people have given me great words of encouragement, or even times I've had great conversations with friendly strangers who just felt like stopping to chat. I'll never forget it. The kindness. And I actually have a funny story regarding kindness for you.

When I was about three to four years old, one of my favorite uncles offered to babysit me for the day. This uncle loved me so much, and I was incredibly precious in his eyes. While he was babysitting me, it eventually became snack time, and he brought out a bowl of grapes to me. In the process of trying to feed me, I told him that I did not like the skin on green grapes, and I asked him to please peel all of the skin off of the grapes for me. My uncle loved me so much, he didn't complain at all—he simply began peeling every single grape, one by one, till all of the grapes were skinless.

Later in the day, my mother came back to his house to pick me up and found out that we had grapes for snack time, and how my uncle peeled them all. My mom started laughing and said to my uncle, "She eats the skin on grapes. I don't know why she told you to do that. And I can't believe you actually sat there and peeled them all!" Oh man, there was so much laughter—hahahaha. But the truth was, when I was a child, green grape skin was too sour for me, and I asked my uncle for help. My mom never knew, because I always just ate what she gave me.

This is one of the first acts of kindness that I still remember to this day from over twenty years ago. I don't think any of us will ever forget it. One act of kindness truly can be ingrained in someone's memory for a lifetime. My mom and I still laugh about it hysterically all these years later. My uncle really did sit there and peel an entire bowl of grapes. Every last one hahaha. I just wanted to share this cute story and hopefully make you smile.

Thanks for stopping by! I'm hoping you'll drop by and visit my blog to read another entry in the future. I have a bunch that might entertain you and they are all true stories. God bless you! Jesus loves you! And I do too!
