frutiger aqua bathroom - intro and #1 update

sept 17, 2025

hi spacehey friends! and welcome to what hopefully will be a series where i talk about... my bathroom. and it's journey to hopefully become the dream frutiger aqua room in my apartment! so, let me explain before i dive in.

in march of this year, me and my boyfriend moved into our current apartment. looking back at the shithole we were in before, this place truly is our dream house. it's not perfect, but it's huge, filled with light, nice neighbours and the rent is not too much. BUT... there has to be a downside, no? yeah, that would be the bathroom. as you will see in the pics below, it is so cramped it kinda looks like a closet, the door doesn't even open all the way cause it hits the wall behind it, it has these ugly ass beige tiles, and worst of all... NO WINDOW T__T

so, after being a bit bummed about it for a while, i decided to take a challenge and since it is the ugliest room in the house, i'm gonna try and make it into the coolest! i'm going for a frutiger aero/aqua theme by using (mostly) renter friendly diys! i say mostly cause im still gonna use tape on the walls lol idc. and i will document the transformation on this blog! since i already started out with some decorations, this first update will be to show you what i already made.

first of all: the sink! no boring toiletries allowed, so here's ou rubber ducky themed soap and toothbrush holder my bf got us back when we still lived in our old apartment. also some mini rubber duckies that you will probably see scattered everywhere thru my pics: these were gifted as a joke for my bf's birthday by a friend of ours a couple years ago, just a box with like a hundred mini ducks in it. and they keep popping out ANYWHERE in the house, it's like they're somehow reproducing. moving on:

here's the first real diy! a little gumball machine with bubbles and a clownfish. i got the gumball machine at a dollar store and took the gum out, and replaced it with plastic and glass beads. glued some fake moss to the side to make algae, and the little weird fish is one of those thingies you put on your phone's charger to prevent it from bending, that i didn't use anymore and i kjust had laying around. the gumball is actually still functional! the plastic bubbles come out if you turn the knob :D

weird little kitty postcard that i've had since i was a little kid, hung up directly above the toilet paper holder cause i find it funny and cute. xd

still looking at the wall deco: here's a theme park frame with a pic of our kitten winnie!

i've had this frame since i was a kid and i always thought it looked so cool but i never actually went to that theme park lol. it must be something my sister got in the very early 2000s before i was born. well, nobody ever really liked it so now it's mine and it has my cat in it, directly facing the toilet.

now THIS is actually the first diy i ever did for the bathroom! i took some plastic and glass beads, some of those thousands of rubber duckies, and make these detachable charms for this ugly corner shelf that was already above the bathtub. these make me so happy and maybe i will make some more or add some more strings of beads to connect them cause i just think they're so cute and they add some whimsy and fun to this black shelf thing i otherwise hated.

and right behind the hanging rubber duckies, here's this little guy just chilling on one corner of the tub. he's actually my boyfriend's, but he belongs to the bathroom now.

and for now, this is pretty much everything i have to show you! i hope you enjoyed this little trip inside my nostalgic sea themed bathroom, or at least the beginning of it. a bit of a boring post maybe, but i will try to update this series each time i add something new and maybe show you process pics of the next diys i will make, maybe some tutorials, who knows! the next thing im looking to do is painting the trash bin and decorating it with stickers. it's currently black with a green rim. but i'm gonna make it white with a green rim and add fish and sea themed stickers to it.

comment any fun nostalgic diy ideas if you want! im always looking for suggestions on how to fix this depressing room even more and make it into a fun aquatic cozy shitter.

that's enough for today, peace! let me know what you think :D
