So, I was just minding my business, looking through the James Beetle Farm website, and my goodness did I see one the most beautiful looking beetles I just might cry. JUST LOOK at this beautiful boy. So this guy is a Florence Rhino Beetle (Xylotrupes florensis), not to be confused with a stag(silly me, my last entry implied a elephant beetle is a stag. It's not >-<). And just look how GORGE it's carapace(or elytron) is! It's a nice lovely deep red, almost grape jelly looking. And it's horns are so smooth and have such a perfect curve! This beetle has no idea how handsome he is! Also, hello, the color of it's setae (The "hairs" on his tummy :P) contrasts so good with its exoskeleton I'm so close to passing out right now. Beautiful beetle, 10/10, would raise like he is my bio son I gave birth to. From looking up a few things, I've read that these guys originate from Asian, Africa, and South America (Ofc! Look how big!), and are usually found in tropical and temperate regions. No wonder! Aren't creatures closer to the equator bigger? (Don't quote me on that haha!) If you couldn't tell already this dude has me in total awe. They get to about to 40-80 mm big, and live to about 4-5 months during their adult phase. Though they could possibly live longer in captivity, but the adult life span of a beetle is relatively shorter than their larval stage(which could be years! Woah!). Anyways, how groovy is this guy? If you're scared of bugs, just look at his cute little face and reconsider! Or at least be a catch and release type of person when you see a little buggy lost in your house! c:
