"I love flyleaf but.." The history of them, controversy, and first blog post!!

Hey hey thank you for taking time to read my blog! This is my first blog ever!! I will be talking about the band Flyleaf, their songs, history etc.

If you don't know the band, they are a popular Christian rock band (which I didn't know until recently) that formed in Texas in 2002. I will be talking about their singer Lacy Sturm, born in Florida, September 4th 1981, (which happens to be the same birth date and month as my ex). And how she is a supporter of conversion therapy as well as my thoughts on their songs.

Ok so I love flyleaf like the music is so so good. I often love rock with female singers like evanescence flyleaf; so on and so forth. Every time I listen to a band and I find out that they're a Christian rock band I'm always so shocked cause I think like oh my god this is so relatable and then they're like yeah this is about Jesus like guys I thought this was a love song like what ok so I interpreted that completely different like girl "My tongue dances behind my lips for you" like I totally thought that was about a relationship. I love their song "I'm so sick", but its about her praying to not be a lesbian like girl what </3 I thought it was about mental health. Btw I'm not personally Christian I'm a Pagan but I do not have anything against any religion. Also I am LGBTQ so I find what Lacy supports is shocking.

ANYWAYS this isn't a yap about Christian rock ok wait it is but still this yap is about flyleaf and the singer the main reason for this yap other than the fact that I'm listening to them right now. The singer Lacy Sturm is a major supporter of gay conversion therapy like what? And she says that she supports the LGBTQ+ community but she supports conversion therapy like? I feel like that contradicts itself. I believe I've read that she sent herself to conversion therapy. I swear I heard something about it but I cant find much on it. Maybe I'm confusing her with someone else. I have met many Christians who are also lgbt and they've said that in the bible it doesn't say anything about being gay is a sin. It's what a lot of Christians just went along with which is total bull. You should be allowed to be who you are as well as practice your religion of choice you know what I mean? I don't even know how conversion therapy is allowed. (OMG I JS LOST LIKE LOADS OF PROGRESS OF WRITING NOO </333).I feel like conversion therapy should be illegal it is so so dangerous to people i genuinely don't know how it is still legal. 

Ok so anyways in 2012 Lacy ended up leaving the band and Former Vedera singer, Kristen May had taken over. Lacy left because she just had her son, Jack. and for the next two years Lacy went to travel with her husband and her son. 

 I cant find much on why Vedera ended up splitting up but Kristen has an unreal voice. I found in Vedera she had a calmer and softer singing style but when she joined flyleaf she stayed true to Lacy's sound and kept her style so beautifully. I don't listen to too much of ‘newer’ flyleaf but every time I hear Kristen's voice it's genuinely stunning. Her vocal range is so unreal. I wish I could scream like they do. I wonder how someone trains their vocals to be as unreal as theirs. I have started listening to Vedera and I totally recommend listening to both of them.. In 2016 Kristen decided to also leave the band so she can stay with her family, she also felt as if she was not truly a part of the band. I believe she still posts on Instagram and Facebook but she has taken a step back from music.

Ok so I think that that's the end of my yap lol I think y'all should deffo check out flyleaf if you don't listen to them already cause those vocals are UNREALLLLL also please give me tips on what to write about like any specific bands or topics, if you want my personal opinions on these more or if you want more so just the history of it then let me know!!
