So I finally got around to watching Delicious in Dungeon and OH my god, I think this is probably one of the best animes I've ever watched so far? Easily up there as one of my favourites with FMA Brotherhood and Mob Psycho 100.
The world building? Incredible. All the monsters exist in a way that feels like they belong in the environment - there's not a single entity that feels like it sticks out and only exists because "magic." Speaking of, the magic system is incredibly interesting, and I really look forward to learning more about how it works! The conflicts between different races also feels real; issues arise not out of nowhere, there's no "elves and dwarves hate each other just because they're different" no, there's actual compelling histories and cultures to explain the divide between each race and how they interact with one another.
Also, this show has really made me want to put more effort into my cooking. All the food looks so good, and the entire show is, obviously, incredibly food-positive! Which may sound silly to say, but. Well. If you know you know. Senshi never says "You shouldn't eat this food because it's unhealthy," he says "You should eat this food, and let's add more to round out the meal."
All the characters are all seriously endearing and lovable and relatable in their own ways. There isn't a single character I can point to and say "The show would be a lot better without them" because every character has a place in the story that is being told. Not to mention, the amount of time characters have on screen is surprisingly balanced, and there's almost never a time where the show is too focused on Group A and makes me think "Ugh, I wish I was watching Group B right now."
Go watch Delicious in Dungeon right now. Also, make yourself a snack to eat while you watch it. Trust me, you'll need it.
