small rant:
read time : 45 second read (?)
I don't think that what most of us have is can be called a short attention span but rather there is a lack of depth in contemporary media. Most of the works you see online tend to be narrow, short-form videos that barely contain any substance to work with whatsoever.
While looking at journalist projects made by people within my age group i see that they tend to try to pack as much rich vocabulary as they can with large complex sentences when in reality their 2 paragraph work can be compressed into 3 sentences without any changes being made to the message. This obsession of trying to sound smarter instead of putting efforts into media coverage is whats throwing us off. I can sit through a 4 hour video where it constantly introduces new aspects, points and information without the need for sounding like the oxford dictionary learners edition published in 1994 that i inherited from my dad but not a 2 minute one which keeps paraphrasing the same 2 sentences stated at the beginning with bigger words to be deemed as intellectual.
We need substance, perspectives, aspects, influences, opinions. Not a poor piece of work that tries to be as neutral as possible to favor most visions in fear of being "offensive".
