kirks death has been quite the controversy these few days, and i wanted to lay down what i thought about it in a clear format :p
Charlie kirk was the scum of the earth. He was a horrible person with grotesque views who influenced the minds of young individuals- promoting hate crime, racism, islamophobia and genocide.
I feel not even an ounce of sympathy for him, but i don't believe he should have died the way he did. Gun violence is a major problem which is destroying lives everyday, to condemn gun violence but turn around and and publicly announce how happy you are due to his death is shallow hypocrisy. You are no better than him for enabling gun violence by commending it just because its an asshole thats dying.
I'm not saying you shouldn't celebrate because of the empathy makes us human or selective empathy is bad shit because i don't believe having empathy is what makes us human. There isn't a single characteristic or emotional attribute that makes us human- we are human simply because we fit the species description (hairlessness, bipedality and possessing intellect).
I wish to live in a world where gun violence isn't as normalized, and the first step towards that is believing no victim deserved it.
If charlie died due to a car accident, health issue or any other way, I would have no doubt thought this was divine retribution.
And while this doesn't change the fact that i felt a wave of relief wash over me upon hearing charile died, i still try to keep my morals over the sea of hatered i hold for that creepy ass misogynistic man.
