The A-10 Warthog is a military grade aircraft. Also known as Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt 2. Its a single seat, twinturbo fan, straight wing, subsonic attack aircraft developed by Farchild Republic. Also commonly referred to as the Warthog or Hog, it was made in march 1977. Its top speed is 420 mph. Its got a wingspan of 58 feet and has a general electric TF34 engine. Its got Its a mixture of black and dark dark grey with standard A-10 paintlines. There were 5 A-10s shot down out af all of them.Twenty returned with bad damage, and 45 returned with little to no damage. Its about 13.4 million per plane. Built for the united states air force, the planes were designed to provide close air support to ground troops by attacking armoured vehicles, tanks and other enemies. It is the only production built aircraft to only be used for close air support. Its secondary mission is to direct other aircraft attacks on ground targets. That role is called forward air controller. The A-10 was intended to improve performance and firepower of the Douglas A-1 skyrider. The Fairchild’s airframe was designed around high power 30 mm GAU-8 Avenger rotary autocanon. The airframe was degined for durability, with 1,200k titanium armour to protect the cockpit and systems so that it can bounce off the damage and continue flying. It can take off and land from short runways, making it easy to put near the frontlines. It served in the gulf war and iraq war to name a few. The development of the aircraft started after world war 2, designed for delivery of nuclear weapons with high speed transportation, like the F-105 Republic Thundercheif. Once the US military entered the vietnam war, They were using planes such as the Duglas A-1 skyraider. It was a good plane at its time, but they lost 266 A-1 planes in that war. With not much modern shooting mechanics on their A-1, they had to make a new attack aircrraft. After a call on june 7th, 1961, Robert Mcnarma ordered the us airforce to develop two tactical aircrafts. One for long range strike, one for interdictor role, and one for fighter bomb missions. The first one was a General dynamics F-111 Aardvark. The second was a U.S navy Mc.Donelle Douglas F-4 phantom 2. The phamtom was one of the most successful fighter designs of the 1960s and was a capable fighter bomber. It however, had poor low speed performance. It was also expensive to buy and operate, with a flyaway cost of 2 million usd, and a operational cost of more than 900 dollars per hour. After a review of its tactical force structure, the usaf decided to a Low-cost aircraft to replace the F-4 and F-111. It first focused on the Northrop F-5, with air-to-air capability. A 1965 cost efficiency study shifted the focus from the F–5 to the less expensive A-7D variant of LTV A-7 Corsair 2, and a contract was awarded. However, this aircraft doubled in cost after demands for a upgraded engine. During this time, the united states military had been introducing the Bell UH-1 Iroquois into service. First used as transport, it was later used to carry more machine guns, later known as a helicopter gunship. It was effective against lightly armed enemy. Soon the Bell AH-1 cobra was introduced. An attack helicopter armed with BGM–71 TOW missiles, able to destroy tanks from the outside range of defensive fire. It was effective for the US military to change its deffensive strategy in eurupe into blunting any Warsaw pact advance with anti-tank helicopters instead of tactical nuclear weapons that had been the basis for NATO’s battle planes since the 1950s. The cobra was a quickly made helicopter based on the UH-1 Iroquois and was introduced in the mid 1960s as an interim design until the US army Advanced ariel fire support system program delivered. The army selected the Lockheed AH-56 Cheyenne, a more capable attack aircraft with greater speed for initial production. The development of the anti-tank helicopter concerned the United states air force. A USAF study of existing close air support capabilities revealed gaps in the escort and fire suppression roles that Cheyenne could fill. The study concluded that the service should acquire a simple inexpensive dedicated CAS aircraft at least as capable as the A-1, and that it should develop doctrine, tactics, and procedures for such aircraft to accomplish the missions for wich the attack helicopters were provided. On september 8th 1966, General jhon p McConnell. Ordered that a speacilized CAS aircraft should be designed, developed, and obtained.Â

tiene una velocidad y manejo bastante bueno y ni hablar de su cañón de 30mm que fulminan todo a su paso
My grandfather worked on one before. This info is copied and pasted from the wiki, but I do know my fair share about the plane.
