My first blog post on SpaceHey!
Hello! I want to do a monthly art dump here and give my thoughts on the art and maybe how the month has been for me :)
I'm not much of a writer so I don't expect these to be too long lol
The art I link in these blogs will be from my Cara account! I really love using Cara as my portfolio site. I won't say it's a replacement for something like Instagram but it suits my needs very well.
Like I said, I will be doing my art dumps on SpaceHey but if you wanted to see my art as they are released, you can check out my Cara profile, here!
Figure Skating Fi
I've wanted to draw Fi from The Legend of Zelda series for a long time now but i never felt by abilities were good enough to achieve the quality I envisioned. I think me creating this piece is just what I needed to start breaking down this mental block.
Some of Fi's iconic moments are when she dances while delivering messages from the Goddesses, so I looked up figure skating references to use for her pose.
I didn't have it in me to create an entire scene for what was ultimately a study so I kept the rendering and lighting pretty standard
I also have a little baby Fi in the bottom-left corner of the canvas both because I felt that empty space needed to be filled and because I wanted to make a smol version of Fi.
Overall, I'm very happy with the piece and I look forward to drawing her more in the future :)
Blu (Shy Guy OC) Ref Sheet
As an artist, most of my works are fan pieces for the various media I enjoy. Rarely do I make original works.
However, my group of art friends are really into making original characters and I think some of that is rubbing off on me!
Aside from my sona character, which is really just a cartoon version of irl me but more colorful, my OCs are based in the world of Super Mario! I think it is a good compromise for me where their concepts are inspired from another's work but modified enough to where I can exercise my own original creativity.
I will admit, this OC isn't the best example to dive into this topic because it's really just my sona design in Shy Guy form. I'll make another post about my more-original Toad OCs sometime later!
To talk about this guy for a little bit, he's a friendly Shy Guy who's hobby is traveling and making maps of the areas he explores.
He's timid and is cautious of others and often flees at the first sign of danger.
BluSprinks’ Birthday Weekend 2025
This was just a little promo I made for my birthday streams! It was a great time I planned about 8 games (we didn't get to one of them) to play with friends over 2 days that total to about 20 hours of streaming.
We played Peak, Golf With Your Friends, REPO, The Headliners, Plate Up!, Lethal Company, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!
Doing this also gave me more confidence when it comes to planning group events so I really hope to do more of those in the future :)
Kirby Air Riders Prediction: Helper Characters and Top Ride
I'll admit, sometimes I try to hop onto the Twitter artist train of drawing the hot topic of the day, but I do like to get a little proactive with it.
The Kirby Air Riders Direct aired on 8/19 (my bday yippeee) so the day prior I made this artwork to share my "prediction" of that would be revealed in the showcase! Unfortunately they're not bringing Top Ride back but they are adding enemies and bosses as playable characters :D
Again, I was too lazy to make a scene for my subject but I'm really happy with how I rendered this one! I'm slowly getting better and better at rendering metal imo.
Fan Art: Zanamiii
This piece is fan art of my friend, Zana!
She's an amazing artist and musician and is currently working on bringing her indie cartoon series, Shamalotts, to life!
I met Zana back in 2022 when I had joined another indie project for a musician/composer/arranger role and I got to create an instrumental for one of her songs!
This specific artwork was inspired while I was watching a Twitch stream of hers. During her streams, she works on the different projects she's a part of and at the end she has a ukulele-karaoke segment where she sings songs requested by viewers. We were just having a great time that night and I wanted to make some art :)
Peak: Heavy Burden
This was a really fun one to make! Completely different from my usual style with thick outlines.
This piece was inspired by a game of Peak with my friend, Ishieish, where we wanted to get achievements in the newer Mesa biome. During our time in the Mesa we uncovered The Tomb and obtained the golden Bing Bong statue! We were then attacked by an ant lion and Ishie was unconscious while I trekked all around the area for a health pack to revive them. A core mechanic in this game is managing your stamina bar, where effects like damage, hunger, and the weight of the objects in your pockets actively take up room and leaving you access to less of your stamina. The golden state already knocked out about a third of my stamina and I was previously damaged and my hunger only grew. Ishie was also carrying a few of the heavier items in the game so when I picker her up, it left me with about a tenth of my overall stamina.
This song is required listening to get the whole experience of the piece.
I'm really proud with out this turned out and it inspired to me to make another artwork in the same style but that will be covered next month!
Closing Thoughts
Okay, so maybe this turned out to be a little longer than I originally predicted but I had a lot of fun creating this blog post! I hope you enjoyed reading my little art journey and I look forward to showcasing my art for September :D
If anything I've made resonated with you feel free to leave a comment! Stuff like observations and related stories would be fun to read! Like I mentioned in my bio, I would love to meet others who share the same interests as me and doubly so if you're also an artist/creative!
