Women never get nearly as much credit as they deserve in the extreme music scene. Here are some female fronted grind and powerviolence bands that I think are worth mentioning especially for anyone who wants to get into these genres more.
- Cretin- one of my favorites from this list. Great grindcore band with a very classic sound reminiscent of the early bands in the genre with perfectly raw and brutal vocals performed by Marissa Martinez (a transgender woman). My favorite release of theirs is the EP called "Cretanic Grind Ambush".
- Flagitious idiosyncrasy in the dilapidation. Oof had a hard time typing that. Anyways they are an all female Japanese band from Tokyo. Once again sick vocals (that you probably wouldnt expect to come out of that tiny woman), amazing energy and live performances. Their 2013 album "Wallow" is a must listen when it comes to this type of music.
- Goolagoon. They're a queer powerviolence band from Boston, the main theme in their music is.. Spongebob Squarepants. With lots of samples, song names and imagery from the cartoon, they also focus on important things like women's rights and helping the situation in Palestine. Highly recommend checking out the 2015 patrickviolence demo.
- Fuck the facts- formed in 1998, with Mel Mongeon on vocals since 20002. They have a very cool, unique and technical sound that they classify as "canadian bastardized grindcore". Mel is also an artist, she has done a lot of the band's album artwork since joining. Not exactly my vibe but theyre definitely a fun listen and worth knowing.
- Bleachdrinker- Swedish powerviolence, also with a trans vocalist. She does a great job live, I saw them earlier this year on tour with Wormrot, and that's how i got into them. Definitely very underrated.
HONORABLE MENTION: Agoraphobic Nosebleed- obviously an iconic band in the American grindcore scene. In 2007 Katherine Katz joined the band and performed on vocals until she left in 2018. Kat has also been featured on two Pig Destroyer albums.

Great pick with FIITD (not typing all of that). the grindcore and death metal scene in Japan as a whole is also incredible, Pharmacist and Butcher ABC are exceptional highlights.
