i don't understand the spoon theory. i know that it is used by a lot of people, especially people with chronic illness or neurodivergency, but i don't understand it. it just isn't a form of measurement that makes sense to me. wtf does it mean that you have three spoons left? what does that equate by percentage? if you could assign a task to a spoon, like how much energy a spoon is, then maybe i could understand.
like, if doing the dishes takes one spoon to do, i guess it makes sense. but the main reason why it doesn't make sense to me and i feel like it's not a good source of measurement is because everyone's spoons and what takes how many amounts of spoons are completely different from each person.
it could take three spoons to do the dishes for one person, and then one spoon for another. and maybe that is why i have such a hard time with it. because it is not a strict and routine form of measurement that is universal to everyone. it's just a buzzword that people chose to incorporate in their lives.
obviously, no hate to whoever uses "spoons", i just won't understand wtf you're talking about ^_^
what helps me the best is to use percentages. doing the dishes take 5% of my energy. i started today with 60% or something. like... that makes so much more sense. and while this can also be different to each person, i know that 100% is always the top, and 0% is always the bottom. and it's easier to measure and is more visually understandable than fucking spoons.

it only makes sense when theres like, a set number of spoons to begin with. like 10 spoons = 100%
but the analogy is still so weird to me
YES I AGREE but everyone has a different number of spoons???? sigh
