A new start [11/SEP/2025]

Unfortunate timing, but whatever. 

Today I had my induction day in my new university. I was so nervous the entire day, I felt nauseous and I was so anxious that I couldn't even eat. Eventually, I got the bus into the city where my university is, and it was lashing rain almost the entire time. I was there early and didn't want to look like a twat coming in almost two hours earlier, so I walked down the road to get myself a treat for when I get home. I had an umbrella, but it didn't help at all. My jeans were soaked up to my knees and I could feel it trying to stick to my legs, my jumper- although I didn't feel it, thankfully- was soaked through all over the back, but my hair was all dry thanks to the umbrella. Anyways, eventually it got sunny again and I dried up on my way back.

I got to campus about an hour before our induction lecture. I thought I'd be the only one there, standing about and waiting, but there was so many there already. I happened to come in at the same time as another girl, and we chose to stick together for the rest of the day. We had a gander around the place and met another girl which was coming into the same lecture as us. We weren't that far off the lecture time, so we went into the hall.

When the lecture started, our lecturer told us to talk with the people around us to make friends. There was a boy on the end of the row we were sitting at that was all alone, so I said hi. We didn't get much time before the lecture continued. At the end of the lecture we got a tour of the campus and where are all our labs were, although I can't remember where anything is now. I talked a little longer with the first girl and the boy, but another boy came up to me to compliment my piercings- specifically my snakebites, as he had a pair of his own. We talked a bit more about our piercings, tattoos, and our courses before our tour eventually ended and we were allowed to wander back home. 

We got a branded tote goodie bag at the end- which included student discount codes for local shops, a pencil case, pens and condoms, how nice. I got the first girls contacts and she said she'll forward it to the other girl since we got fairly close. I got to nervous to ask anyone else for contacts, but the girl got a few so I'll probably nick them off her. 

All in all, the day went so much better than I thought it would. I was bricking myself all for nothing, and I made a few friends so I wouldn't be so alone on our first proper lecture and lab. I'll probably be just as nervous for the first lecture too, though. I'm so tired now.
