7th September 2025, we went on hike. It was at Berhala Island, took about 15-30 minutes by boat from the town's market. It was quite an impulsive plan, because I just randomly asked my friend to go on a hike with me. Then, suddenly Berhala Island got into our conversation (づ •. •)? It costs RM35 for each person, for the whole package (guide, permit and boat fees). Fun fact, this island is only for locals thus why you need the permit. Plus, the island is also a training camp for the soldiers, kinda explains why it's only for the locals.

When we landed on the island, ready to go on a hike.

Not so special but I love the sunshine on my face :)

Few pics at the 1st peak, it was so pretty but you have to be careful because the guide said you can fall anytime one false step, you're in a casket lol)

The same peak, but different cliff? is it a cliff? idk what is it called but this one is prettier because you can clearly witness the vast open sea ahead and the beach can be seen from here
Such a breathtaking view. I am healed. Although I was tired but it was all worth it. After we finished taking pics at the 1st peak, we headed to the canteen, basically an old soldier's house. Not so pretty and I might say, not the best in terms of hygiene. But hey, when you are in an island you're not familiar of, the canteen is actually very helpful. I just wished they expand their menus. And their beverages choices. And ice. OMG the drinks are cold but not would be even better if there's ice. Our group of 30 hikers are guided by 2 male guide, they are very helpful and aware of everything. Plus, there is this one lady who has been there before, multiple times omg, and she guided us along while educating us about everything on the island. She's very cheerful and full of knowledge, you can literally ask her anything hiking related and she would give you a very detailed answer.

This is the 2nd peak, nothing special bout this. You only get a little space to take pics and the views are so-so.
I rate the overall experience 12/10. The guide are friendly and do their job accordingly, the views are nice, the fees are cheap and affordable, and yeah the fellow hikers are very helpful and cheerful. I enjoyed my time there.
*But...When we were heading to the town center in the morning to catch the boat, my friend's car was leaking. Her petrol was leaking since the night before actually, but we just found out when we parked it in the morning. The leaking continues for like 7 hours, since 7 a.m till 2 p.m.. At first we thought it's the black oil? Turns out it's the petrol, which is worse. But luckily, things are under control now. Her mother accidentally hit a bump the night before our trip. Her mother was rushing her little brother to the hospital, and you know, a mother will do anything to make sure her childrens' are okay, so props to her mommy for the rescue, although it leads to petrol leaking the next day.
That's all.
much love,
nanai
