actually start reading people's profiles?
it's been years of getting friend requests from minors and adults who dont list their ages on their profiles, and i'm so tired of it. i've had it very clearly written, for years, that i dont accept below 18/no age given.
not just me, my friends on here on the weekly mention kids sending them requests and everyone is sick of it - some of yall legit have the survival instincts of a fart
how often do u not hear about the sick people on here and the major lack of moderation, pedophiles, gore? a friend on here found a child porn profile circling around, and they got traumatized - now imagine how badly its gonna hurt the mental of a teenager. its especially the gullible kids who are gonna be the target to these things. i really hope this scares you to be smarter
and idgaf if u have no friends, no adult here is meant to baby you. there's kids who share the
same hobbies as you, just keep looking for them. dont think that you're "oh so mature" for people your own age - i promise you're not. i had a kid be mad at me for not accepting? like what? pissing me off
i keep declining constantly. it's very tiresome, especially on spacehey where the servers sometimes are super slow; i dont wanna hear "dont delete", it bugs me that it builds up on my front page.
obvi its not all kids, goes without saying
and kids are ofc allowed to read my blogs and my website etc., my problem is the friend requests.
its sweet but it really gets to a point. i hate being "negative" on here, but i'll show my disdain for it this once, its been a nuisance

i work at an elementary school and the kind of stuff i hear from kids that they learn online is insane. i have a kindergartner who won't stop calling people "daddy", and others that i'm afraid are being groomed online based on their behavior.

can we not have preferences anymore?? personally i dont accept anyone 3 years younger or older than me (16-22), cause if we really do end up friends/close friends, a 4+ age gap is a bit weird for me.

my profile layout doesnt define me, its just a cute little aesthetic cause why not. while a profile does help a little bit, it doesn't tell you anything abt me, unlike the info i put in ON PURPOSE which literally tells you a lot abt me.
its also the fact that while there are so many minors, there are still adults on spacehey. i assume anyone 22+ comes across my profile, reads it and actually understands to not request
...because i don't actually get reqs from them.
which says a lot abt the minors frequently requesting me even tho its obvious they're younger than me and/or they don't label how old they are (the 'minor' label does not help in the slightest, how do i know that ur not 13 instead of 17 or something).
also with the layout thing, what are they gonna do with befriending a cool profile layout? frequently go back to ur profile and stare at it? never read ur hobbies, music, etc. and learn of ur preferences? i feel like its the silliest reason to befriend a person, makes zero sense

ngl profile layout are more for you than for anyone else. the only way it becomes important is when friend requesting someone or you're checking out the profile of someone who requested you.
sometimes it does tell someone a little bit abt you with the vibe/aesthetic you have. for example:
minor similarity in interests & completely diff aesthetic, vibes are NOT there
vs
minor similarity in interests & similar aesthetic, vibes exist
the 2nd one is more likely to get friended iykwim.

it's honestly like schools aren't teaching kids about internet safety. I remember getting those meetings so I don't understand why they stopped. Or maybe kids ignore them and continue being stupid on the internet anyway. idk man
i think its a level of cockiness, that nothing could happen to them. there's no way they haven't been taught it yet? in this day and age, def they're ignoring it

I’m 14. I do sometimes send friend requests to adults and I sometimes accept friend requests from adults. Although most of my friends on here are kids I like to include some adults because it gives me someone I can turn to for support or advice. Also,some adults are just as cool as some kids and I don’t see why age should be a barrier to being friends. I get that some adults don’t want friend requests from minors and if I see that on their profile I will respect it. If I send a request to someone who has that on their profile it just means I didn’t read it as carefully as I should. (My bad). This has occasionally happened and one lady got quite upset with me over it. I just apologised and explained that it was a genuine mistake.

My advice, change your pfp, privatize your pro, and switch your inbox to only accept messages from friends.
The last time I was here I left everything open and used a clear pfp of myself, and although I clearly stated NO MINORS and 21+ ONLY on my pro and blogs, I still received frqs from literal children. I think the youngest girl to attempt to add me was ~12 (for reference, I'm a guy in my 30s).
When I made this account I privatized everything and use an AI generated pfp and practically no one has even viewed my page since I made the changes. It's unfortunate but if you want it to stop that would be the way to proceed. I wish you luck.

Literally I have a warning (in bright red and yellow) "hey, don't add me if you're under 14 or don't have your age listed, i'm not cool with it", and yet I still keep getting requests from people who don't list their ages or simply have "minor" in their bio (which could mean anything), atp it's bugging me a bit.
I wish minors in general would stop interacting with spaces clearly not catered to them.
It's literally what happened to PumpkinTheGentleman; Minors kept interacting with his Tiktok despite him clearly stating (on numerous posts actually) that he doesn't want minors interacting with his shit like, AT ALL, said minors got pissy because he made NSFW content, and they harassed the shit out of him for MONTHS, untill he was forced to quit the internet entirely due to how bad the harassment got. They even tried to find shit on all of his social medias to make it seem like he was purposefully allowing minors to interact with NSFW content just so thjat they can have an excuse to harass him.
ALL THAT just because some dumbass kids wanted to act "mature" and go into spaces clearly not made for them and could potentially harm them in the long run if they did (speaking from experience).
But all in all I 100% agree with you on this: Minors should stay out of adult places, period. It's literally common sense, and I'm not surprised that tons of social media sites are implementing stricter age verifications because of it.

u didnt go off the rails dw. i could imagine it would also very much suck in that case too, as a minor not wanting to befriend kids too young, and not knowing if they are or arent. i cant tell if its a tactic to try and not mention your age as a kid or adult, maybe they think they can bypass people's age restrictions, or maybe they're embarrassed about their age? i remember as a kid i was, and i lied ab my age when i was only 9, which got me in shitty places; and it wasnt even on a site 10% this bad.

(im 16 turning 17 soon) Im in a weird spot where I cant really friend ppl under 14 or that are 14 but I also cant friend ppl who are 18 man I hate being a minor.
also most ppl on spacehey are js friending ppl bc they like their profiles but that's js my opinion ^w^
idk how it is like as a minor to befriend minors, i joined when i was 19, and the part with cool profiles is sweet - im sure kids befriend adults for innocent reasons like that.
however as an adult who makes it clear, its still very uncomfortable when you explicitly have said that you dont want the friendship with underage kids. the issue is that most minors dont read the profile at all, it seems, when they very much should. layout is one thing but a person should also look past that to see if the person is idk, freaky, weird kinks or intentions listed, if they're a zionist and you're not; personally i dont understand how the information part can be overlooked and not cared about.

Yeahhh I understand that part, as a Minor myself the only issue I have with some ppl is that when they friend me they act like im fucking 4??? Like they explicitely censor in a way that MAKES it weird, Im 16 turning 17 like 1.5 yers till im 18.... Im not super mature but neither are people under 21 that brain aint developed. Thats my opinion at least ^w^
