I was originally gonna make this a bulletin but it's so long I decided to make it a blog instead to see what people think of this, and also to keep it around rather than watch it dissipate in a week.
I can't lie I'm so envious when people are bilingual.
IN A GOOD WAY AND ALL obviously. But god its so cool like what do you mean you're fluent in different languages and cultures I'm so jelly.
I tried to learn Spanish when I was a kid, my parents enrolled me in some classes and said we would all learn Spanish together, well guess what bruh, THOSE BOZOS NEVER DID IT WITH ME. So I became unmotivated to learn because I thought we could do something together for once, and I ended up doing it alone...... moving on though, I also tried to learn Dutch from Google translate when I was like 13.
Moment of silence for that because that's really embarrassing on my part.
Obviously I'm sure yall can see why that DIDN'T work out... also lowkey Dutch is like really hard to learn, in my opinion..... however I wanted to learn it because I'm technically part Dutch or whatever, and actively have family that live in the Netherlands and places like that that speak explicitly Dutch.
And like to be honest I'd still love to learn and be fluent in many languages I just am really bad with keeping a schedule and keeping it daily, and also I'm butt booty broke right now, LIKE BUTT BOOTY BROKE BAAAD. AND. And there's another and I know, I'm kinda picky.. I don't wanna use some random ass app that probably doesn't even work that well, if I wanna learn another language I wanna do it right and I wanna do it from a native speaker, but I don't if I'll ever have that opportunity....
However heh. If I ever DID have the chance. I'd learn Spanish first, as I feel like its a "beginner friendly" (ish.. if that's even a thing with bilingualism) language to learn for an English speaker due to the letters and stuff like that being the same/similar (from what I know), then I'd learn French for similar reasons and to also get a hang of learning new languages, THEN Id like to learn Dutch and become fluent in my 'native tongue', I'd love to meet and communicate with my family that's still so far away.

I don't speak any Spanish, but it seems to be a good language in terms of language immersion, because it's very common in online spaces. It's part of the reason why most young people in places where English is not an official language can speak it very well - the internet is just full of content made in English so you're more likely to learn it passively than a language with fewer speakers. When I was a kid, my Youtube used to be flooded with Undertale comic dubs in Spanish even though I never watched anything in Spanish. You could use that to your advantage. Obviously just watching something in Spanish won't work - if it worked like this, everyone watching anime could speak perfect Japanese. You'd still need to study material. But you can use that native material to pick out words or grammar structures out of. I wish you the best of luck if you do try to learn a language! :D

Honestly I know Spanish and like it helps if you watch your stuff in Spanish like YouTubers, children shows, books, and stuff that you like in that language. Also I feel like if you know Spanish, french also becomes easier since they borrow some of the same words (for me I picked it up from when I was little and my parentents left me in Dominican Republic with family there when I was like 5) so maybe you can also go somewhere like that and do that too
YEAH DEFINITELY I 100% think it'd most likely help to watch things in that language or listen to Spanish music or etc. But anyways thqts so so cool But wdym your parents LEFT hyou... Are you okay huzz 0.0

learning language on google translate is so realll. i used to learn Turkish on there too, basically just typing random words and call it a day. learning languages without intention is really hard, like maybe if i was living in somewhere else where english is not normalised like Japan, maybe that'll motivate me to learn Japanese to speak with the locals and so on. but if i want to learn a new language for fun, it doesnt always work for me LMAO :DD
I remember I had a Google doc for my Google translations.. I wrote down like 5 things and then never touched the doc again. And the words were like, greetings, goodbyes, and pronouns if I recall correctly... BUT YEAH I TOTALLY GET WHY ITS HARD TO STAY MOTIVATED DURING IT it can be very confusing, especially as you grow older and more accustomed to your 1st/native language XP
