old online worlds

when i was younger i lived online (probably shouldnt have been spending so much time on the internet at a young age...) and i spent a lot of that time on old online worlds. im gonna do a rundown of some of the most memorable ones.

build-a-bearville

this one is like etched into the back of my mind. i remember i kept making accounts on it and playing through the intro like 4 billion times cos i couldnt remember my login details. it opened in 2007, n sadly closed in 2015 i think, and it was buildabears version of webkinz in a way. u could bring ur real buildabear into the game but im pretty sure there was also a free option that i used cos i didnt have one. it was pretty cool, u could dress up ur character and play games and make friends!

LPSO

ohhmygoddd if any of these ever come back i hope and pray its this one. i miss this one so bad and it had my whole heart when i was younger. it was the same sorta thing as webkinz and bearville, they sold these plush littlest pet shops with a code on their collar (dont quote me on that, i think so but not 100 percent sure) and if u redeemed it u could bring ur lil friend into the world. though again i never had these plushies, i remember begging for one and i remember being mad jealous one of my friends had one. it opened in 2009, and i think it closed in 2011 or 2012? the sounds were so pleasing, i still sorta remember them now. this game had lil me in a chokehold bro. bring it backkkkk!!

SmallWorlds

ok... i defo should not have been on this one but little me was just desperate to play all sorts of fun new online worlds so i got my grubby lil hands on everything. this was another one i had like 40  accounts on bc i couldnt remember what my details were to log in. it was mainly a more sorta older teen/adult space i think? u could have a pet cat or dog and customise like every aspect of the cat/dog and your character which i rlly liked. i remember i spent ages in this high school world pretending to be the teacher of the class (wtf was i teaching them??) this one also closed down but it was more recent than the last two, having closed in 2018.

panfu

ngl this game used to scare the shit out of me idk but i was obsessed with it for a while. it was like club penguin but with pandas and i remember the story quests being very intense. theres just something about the panda avatars that are inherently terrifying like is it the look in their eyes?? but it was super fun and very active when i used to play it. i think it closed around 2016 and was released in 2007.

FooPets

lastly for now we have foopets. when i was younger i thought this was the coolest shit EVER. you could pick from a HUGE range of 3d modelled dog and cat breeds, you could click to feed them, give them water, pet them and play with them. and they were soooo fucking adorable. i begged my mum for sooo long to let me get membership (you couldnt play at all without it, u could just preview all the breeds (i spent hours doing that)) but she never caved. however im pretty sure they had like a free membership event for a week once and u knowww i ate that shit up. its closed down now, im pretty sure the guy that made it got cancelled for something i think he went to prison for fraud?? crazy bro he was like a doctor too i remember that. the game was still sick asf tho, u could adopt pets, raise them. if you had multiple sometimes theyd have lil puppies and kittens. if this came back id be ONNN there.

ofc i also played the OGs, club penguin, bin weevils, webkinz, animal jam (lived on animal jam) and moshi monsters, poptropica etc, but those ones are more well known and for the most part they're still up, club penguin has been rewritten a bunch, and im pretty sure moshi monsters announced its coming back. if i can remember more weird ones ill defo make another blog!
