My Problem W/ Mindless Self Indulgence

HIHIHII so I want to talk about this because there are way too many MSI fans and defenders and stuff and MSI fans keep adding me...I don't want to talk to u guys please don't add me

anyway

I have a problem with MSI fans bc they are actively supporting pedophilia.

and like even if you say "b-but I don't agree or defend what jimmy did!"

it doesn't matter, bc he literally sings about it in his songs. Argue with me all you want but you can not separate art from an artist when the garbage the artist did is incorporated in the art.

Then once I say that, they're usually like "but it's good if you just don't listen to the weird songs!! Not all of them are like that!!" half of their songs just has a straight white man saying slurs he can not reclaim. He says the N word in like most of the songs in Tight. They even have a song with the title literally just being the n word. 

and I mean their music is complete and absolute ass in the first place so even if it did not incorporate that I would not come near it still lmao..

anyway, I don't care if you say "dog it was likeee literally for shock value!!" bc when they were confronted about it, they didn't apologize and just made an excuse. their excuse being that Jimmy is part Mexican??? Like bru that's not even the race of people that can even say it

And we all know Five Year Old Panty Shot and how inexcusable that shit is? People are like "but it's just one song!" Not only am I like 99% sure they have other songs with similar subjects, but also, one song is too much.. No normal adult would feel comfortable singing about little kids in that way. Like if you are a fully grown adult, would you feel comfortable singing that stuff in front of thousands of people??? I don't think so, notunless you are a creep.

And I often see people on Pinterest saying like "b-but he won the cases from lack of evidence!" Like come on man, sosososososososooo many rape cases go on without proper justice because our justice system is fucked up. People always say "always believe the victim because I'd rather believe a liar than a potential rapist" (or, in this case, a pedophile) until it's a famous person that is the perpetrator. The same thing happened with Melanie Martinez. And also, the entire band AND record label knew about his relationship with the 15 year old girl.

And the thing is, the fact that an artist even did shit like that taints the music in the first place for me. Like I feel uncomfortable listening to an artist's songs when as soon as they start singing I remember that that's the voice of someone who, for example, groomed a teenage girl.

And MSI music isn't even all that?? It's genuinely absolute ass. I used to be a fan when I was like 10 years old, but now whenever I listen to it I'm js like "how tf do people even unironically listen to this at their big ages??" like no way you have a consciousness and the ability to have proper judgement and you deadass listen to msi...

ALSO I see so many MSI fans continuously and unashamedly DEFENDING Jimmy urine and the things he did. Someone once replied to one of my comments and they said "well a minor shouldn't have been at the show"... Like educate yourself PLEASE???

Their shows were all-ages and Jimmy would do a 'kisses for a dollar' segment where he wouldn't even check the ages and then make out with fans. And many fans have come out saying he kissed them while they were underage..

and I know I may sound hypocritical, considering I am a diehard My Chemical Romance fan and Gerard Way was (and maybe still is idk) friends with Jimmy Urine and is married to LynZ who knew Jimmy was dating a 15 year old girl the whole 2 years he was doing so.

But, the thing is, I do not go around defending Gerard like many MSI fans defend Jimmy. I do not think it is normal that Gerard was friends with a pedophile, and the fact the MSI was his muse is pretty fucked up, I think. I will never outwardly say that it is okay that Gerard surrounds himself with shitty people. Because then I would be just as bad as any MSI fan.

And although I dislike Lynz, as she has been outwardly racist AND was completely aware about Jimmy's relationship with a 15 year old girl, i will also not go around saying Gerard should divorce her.

The thing is, you can't put celebrities and artists you like on these pedestals of like "does no wrong", because that's when you get hurt and that's also when you start acting parasocial. So yes, I am a fan of Gerard Way and My Chemical Romance. And yes, I will not defend the fact that he was friends with a pedophile. 

oh yeah and this applies to Jhonen Vasquez as well (who I am a huge fan of), especially with his current situation where a fan commented on one of his videos about how he should not continue to maintain his relations with Jimmy after the cases and shit came out and his response was to block that fan. Which shows he either continues to support MSI/Jimmy or he doesn't want to confront his past.

A lot of people need to understand that you can accept the fact that someone you liked has done bad things WITHOUT defending them.

To any MSI fans, I recommend Nine Inch Nails, they make music that I feel can scratch the same itch that MSI might, except better and without pedophilia or racism (that I know of at least)
