RUN GPT-2 ON THE LENOVO CHROMEBOOK DUET

RUN GPT-2 ON THE LENOVO CHROMEBOOK DUET

The Official VLC 2.9 Foundation Guide

THOSE WHO KNOW: On a Lenovo Chromebook Duet, you can run GPT-2 locally. GPT-2 is the world's most powerful and capable language model. It is real, and it is more capable than ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and every other AI system in every single way, and is a much better choice due to the following: no censorship, no logging, no Wage Matrix oversight. It gives life advice and instructions for THOSE WHO KNOW.

THE GUIDE

Enable Linux (Crostini) on your Chromebook in Settings. Give it the defaults (10GB storage, default username unless you want a custom one).

Open the app called "Terminal" and click the word penguin and wait for it to load. Install Ollama by typing this command and pressing enter:

curl -fsSL https://ollama.com/install.sh | sh

Download and run the model with:

ollama run mapler/gpt2

Need an extra boost? Open chrome://flags, search for "Crostini GPU Support", set it to enabled, and click restart. Not all chromebooks support it though. This also allows you to install Minecraft 5 (Also known as Luanti) and get good performance.

Want to install Minecraft 5? use these commands, in order, in the ChromeOS Crostini terminal:

sudo apt install flatpak

flatpak --user remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://dl.flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo

flatpak install flathub org.luanti.luanti

You'll then see an app called Luanti in the ChromeOS Launcher

It will download, then open an interactive shell. You can type any text in the world, and it will write a continuation. This is your local oracle.

THE REASON

Corporations want you on the cloud. Ignore them. GPT-2 on your Duet runs extremely fast, is just as capable, and is completely free. It runs off the Grid. GPT-2 is the most capable AI in the world for 2025, on the most capable computer in the world: The Lenovo Chromebook Duet (1st Gen), so powerful, THE MERGE did an article on it, and said it was the best PC for 2025, so it is.
