I have different types of friends. With 90% of them I can only joke and laugh, and we NEVER have a serious conversation.
All my friends were like this before I went to summer camp so I had to take a PLANE to go there (but it's worth it)
I met so many fantastic people there, and especially this year (the second time I came) I got to know a girl I had made friends with last year much better
Then she told me that for a few days every year she came to a city near my house (Palermo) and told me that we could meet, and I was very happy.
She's one of my only friends with whom I have serious, mature conversations that make us think. And we'd talk for hours.
Then I also had wonderful conversations with a boy I met there at the camp. He had eyes that pierced your soul with that glacial blue and he always wore a Nirvana T-shirt. One day he was lying on the ground and throwing pebbles into the air. I asked him why he was doing it, and he replied, "Because I like to slowly see where things end up." and it seems like a small sentence, but if you think about it, it was more profound than it seems.
Even with the other older girls in the dorm, we had late-night conversations. We talked about political opinions, abortion, feminism, but also more "mundane" things like confidence, subjective beauty, and more
I only see those friends from the summer camp a little more than 10 days a year, but they remain the most special. Because laughing for a stupid joke is important, but I need to talk about other, more serious things sometimes
(sorry if it's pretty long)

god that's so cool. it's important to have friends that are funny, but are also mature. i love my current friend group bc its exactly like that and im so glad you're getting to know people like this too
I wish I could have more deep conversation with my friends also when I'm not at the summer camp, but all my friends I've got close to where I live are just the "funny" type and they don't take it seriously when I want to talk about some deeper stuff

I think it's important to have that type of conversation because it strengthens friendship and that way you know that the other person is mature enough to talk about the problems you are experiencing.
yeah, that's exactly what I mean because sometimes I crave for that type of conversations
