Darkwing Duck is a television series that premiered on September 6, 1991, as part of the Disney Afternoon block. Many believe it is a spin-off of Ducktales, since Launchpad McQuack appears in both series, and there are also various references to Scrooge McDuck and Disney in Darkwing Duck. It was created by Tad Stones.
I want to talk a little about this series because it's one of my favorites. You have no idea how much I love its main character: Drake Mallard, a reference to Batman when he's a vigilante called Darkwing Duck. I know the series isn't perfect (in fact, there are some episodes I absolutely hate because they're so boring and break the canon), but overall I really like it. When I was little, I watched some fragments dubbed into my language. Years later (I think it was in 2016), I found it again and decided to watch it in English... Oh my god, Drake is an older (duck) man who risks his life to save a troubled girl and then adopts her as his daughter... there was no way I wouldn't fall in love with him. Yes, as you're reading: one of the points I wanted to discuss here is that he's the only character in my life that I've truly fallen in love with (I've been in love in real life, once, so I know the symptoms). Every time I think of him, it makes me laugh, it comforts me, I want to protect him, kiss him... and other things. At first, I didn't want to accept it (the problem isn't that he's fictional, but that HE'S LITERALLY A DISNEY DUCK!!! EVEN "DILF" FITS HIM), I was embarrassed... until I finally accepted it... every time I think of him, these feelings come back (and the heartache, the trembling legs, the blushing cheeks... AGH) I JUST WANT TO KISS HIM!!! I only own two figurines of him. Jim Cummings voices him, and whenever I hear him, it always makes me laugh. He has such a great vocal range (especially since he also voices Negaduck, the evil version of Darkwing, who is my toxic love hfjdfhsdjfdjk) The other characters and villains are also very charismatic (I'm talking about Liquidator, Bushroot, Megavolt, and QuackerjackâI can't decide which of the four is my favorite!). I might write about Darkwing Duck again sometime. I just wanted to express how much I love the show and that I still can't believe it's been 34 years! D:
