Martial arts ? (・・;)ゞ

So, I've always wanted to do some kind of martial arts, but I'm honestly too intimidated by the training and experience in general. I just wanted to ask any person who practices or practiced ANY kind of martial arts about their experience and if they would reccommend starting to someone with zero experience in sports in general. Also, I'm just curious to see what people have to say about this topic (o・ω・o) replies will be very very appreciated

I have done around 2 years of boxing, around 2 months of bjj, around a year of muay thai and sanda, 2 years of just fighting with my friend each morning freestyle, a year of semi contact american kickboxing and recently i started going to freestyle wrestling. Yesterday was my second day. Don't let me fool you with all the things i have done. I am terrible at all of them xD.

I really love doing them. And it really is very exhausting. To be honest if you go to any sports and if its not exhausting, its probably not getting you anywhere. It should feel bad, exhausting and tiresome. There will be some pain. However there is an important line of too much pain.

When choosing a martial art your first priority should be choosing the training center first. Go and take a trial class first and examine the teacher/coaches, other students, the facility. If the teacher never listens to you when you say "Ouch coach, my back hurts so much rn" thats a bad coach and you will get hurt. If other students dont listen to you when you say "dude i am new here please go easy on me a bit" you will get hurt at some point. If the facility is generally in a bad shape, you can get sick. So your first priority is to find a good place to train instead of which martial art.

Other than that, martial art is cool, its good for your body and your mind, if you get better and look closely at what you are doing to get better at the martial art you are doing you will figure out some important lessons about life.

So yeah, definitely go do it. Just be careful of the place.

I have done karate since like 2 years ago, although, I quit last year due to it being too physically demanding for me... To be honest, it largely depends on what martial art is it and more importantly, the trainers/coaches.

For example, I've done a form of karate known as kata, which is about performing a set of moves rather than actually fighting. That was bearable for me physically. However I've done a few classes of the actual fighting karate too and that way worse...

About coaches, yeah, that's the reason I quit. Most of the time we've only had classes with a female coach and she wasn't really strict. But later a guy who taught the fighting kind has began coming to the trainings more often and he was so fecking demanding. I swear every time we've had training with him I've fecking thrown up during it. Not kidding. So, yeah, that's a thing to consider too...

my brother (13 y/o) currently takes karate classes as an after school program every Tuesday, I can’t say much since I’m not built for that kind of activity but I believe it’s good to take up if u want! Helps with self defence as well
