Fandom culture, especially kpop fan culture, sucks in 2025.
For the last decade, fandom culture become very problematic. It's not a place to laugh and have some good time anymore. It's all about streams, album sales, MV views, who got the most expensive merch, who has all the collectibles etc. ENJOYING ART SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE ABOUT MONEY.
There is also people who gatekeep the whole project from other fans and they can doxx you for making constructive crisicism. It's so ridiculous! Like why tf are you defend AI or underperforming wtf is wrong with u???? Why don't you just enjoy music/art like normal people do?? Stop glazing!
Most people are there because they enjoy real art made by real artists.
Not everybody wants to stream a shit song that has no artistry or soul in it.
Not everybody has to go crazy for every project an artist released.
You can disagree with someone from your community and discuss your opinions but harrasing someone or making passive agressive comments because of their their different opinions doesn't make you better and your faves probably hate you too.
Fandoms should be open-minded and stop taking everything as ''hateful'' comment.
It's just so tiring and full of hate. Maybe I'm older now and can't stand this kind of behaviour, but I also think there should be always room for critical thinking and common sense.
I don't target any artist or fandom in this vent. Y'all know the drill. You can be in any fandom you want but being a hardcore fan is not it. Have a real job. Go touch grass. Make real friends. Have an actual personality.

lol it's why I prefer just sticking to a small circle of people, too much shit and the weirdos end up dealing the biggest damage.

as someone from the kpop community, and has been for about 6 years... I heavily agree. (it's mostly newer fans to the fandom/normies who used to make fun of kpop and now think it's cool /trend due to kpop demon hunters) Fans nowadays are all about "You don't have albums/merch? fake fan. you didn't stream the M/V when it was under 100 views? fake fan." DON'T GET ME STARTED ON TOXIC FANS. and the glazing...UGH. anyone else remember at Coachella black pink (mainly jennie) was forgetting dances, dancing lazily/barely dancing, and even lip syncing? AND PEOPLE HAVE THE NERVE TO DEFEND HER?!? okay I get it if your tired...but sunghoon was literally sick/not feeling well AND DANCING HIS AZZ OFF. It's literally your job to sing and dance- and not to mention she was doing that at such a big event like coachella. And then toxic fans who critique every little thing that idols do or call some fans "fake" because they Stan groups who are "enemies" like stay's and moas.

I've learned that many people like this are either children or adults that never learned how to grow up. Parasocial relationships have ruined many fandoms, but nobody wants to address that because they'd rather live in a delusional land where their words and actions mean something to the idols they worship like gods
I don't really see many parasocial/delusional fans, it's rare to see in foreign fans LOT'S of delusional Korean fans. Like how Koreans have some weird thing that Idols can't date because it would mean their betraying their fans. which I honestly find disgusting. Parasocial relationships I've seen HEAVILY in J-pop culture though. almost every fan is delusional in J-pop fandom. (mainly speaking of Japanese girl group fandoms)

Yes! I didn't want to add this because i might sound like a boomer, but majority of them are literally children. And when I argue with someone I'm like ''why tf am i even mad i'm the adult here'' but fans reaaaally piss me off sometimes lol
