The Family Secret
Shed away the layers of a house,
Find the little things that make it a home.
But a home will have it's own meaning
To someone who doesn't understand
Why their heart gets heavy
Each time they hear the word
Family.
Bring it up to your mother,
She'll carry on indulging in the
harshness of it all.
Mention it to your father,
He won't bat an eye.
You can take away the
hope for silence away from a child,
But understand that it will seek the Everything it lost
In an empty shaped smoke.
Let loose notes strung together be the comfort
Of its tears,
And the words for its voice.
If your actions speak volumes,
Shouldn't I be deaf by now?
My hands twitch when you drop something,
And they flutter when it's thrown.
But if you replace the word family with
Secret,
Find the little things that make it a home.
But a home will have it's own meaning
To someone who doesn't understand
Why their heart gets heavy
Each time they hear the word
Family.
Bring it up to your mother,
She'll carry on indulging in the
harshness of it all.

If your actions speak volumes,
Shouldn't I be deaf by now?
My hands twitch when you drop something,
And they flutter when it's thrown.
But if you replace the word family with
Secret,
I'll call it even.
