If you by chance read my last blog, you would know I am a college student!
I am a pre-dental biology major... in easy terms I wanna be a dentist.
As fun as that may sound, it's not all sunshine and rainbows.
DAILY LIFE:
For the fall semester, I have a class every day at 10 am.
"Great no 8 ams! That sounds nice!" WRONG!!!!
I am actually a commuter, meaning I drive roughly 40 minutes to and from my house every. single. day.
My alarm currently goes off at 7:30 am, however I snooze until 8 am and "rest" my eyes until I wake up in a panic thinking I'm late.
Each day is not necessarily long as most of the time I'm out by 1 or 2, but of course (for me) all happy things must come to an end as on Mondays I don't get out until 5:30 pm....
WHAT IS IT ACTUALLY LIKE?
If you are a high schooler reading this (or middle schooler... in which case I wonder why you are here) then I'll gladly explain what you should expect coming into college.... brutally honest.
-WILL I HAVE A LOVE LIFE?
To that I say... yes and no? Mostly no!
Listen, I came into college thinking I'll meet the love of my life and live happily ever after and ride into the sun and have perfect little children. I was wrong.
However, I did in fact find someone my freshman year. Was it something that lasted? no absolutely not. I naively thought he would be the one. He actually love bombed me and then told me I was wasting my time with him.
So you may not find someone who you will actually marry (if you're lucky enough you can throw away everything I'm about to say next!), but you will find someone you can have fun with for approximately 3 weeks... no more.... trust me on that.
-HOW IS THE SCHOOL WORK?
Hard.
If you are not someone who knows how to study... figure it out right now or you will struggle like I currently am.
I was an honors student in high school who didn't need to study to get good grades and college has severely humbled me in that way.
Or honestly you can be the complete opposite, some people thrive... I honestly think it depends on your major. (STEM majors have it the worst trust me on this if you don't anything else).
-WILL I MAKE FRIENDS?
That truly matters on a few things I'm about to list
1. Are you dorming?
If the answer is yes, then YES you will make friends super easily... as you are literally doing things with your roommate and you practically live with a trillion people.
If the answer is no, then it'll be hard. I say this from first-hand experience. This has been the hardest task yet. Can you believe I almost dated someone before making one friend?
As a commuter you are just so ready to leave and go home that it's hard to stay and think about making friends... and everyone else already had their roommate to do things with
2. Are you outgoing?
Even if you dorm or not, if you are someone who can talk to people like nothing this'll be the easiest thing you've ever done in your life.
If you are shy and introverted like me... instagram and spotify will be the only friends you'll ever make...
My advice is to put yourself out there and join clubs (which I have yet to do) and you'll find your people!
CONCLUSION
Being a college student is hard, but rewarding (of course because you get a degree duh...).
If anyone has any other more specific questions they would like to ask, don't hesitate to comment or reach out to me and I will answer them!
