Ofc I'm back in college again so I'm pretty busy, but I wanted to update on gauging stuff + my new favorite memories.
I got to see Griffin Benton in Nashville. If you don't know who he is, please go listen to his stuff. He's alt rock and cool as shit. A good introductory song is Sweet Oblivion- that's what got me into him. That, or No One Wins In A Knife Fight. Idk man, all his songs are fucking good. His voice is fucking beautiful and his guitar goes nasty. Anywho.
He performed at this tiny little bar so me and my best friend got to stand right in front of him. We were literally like a foot away from him. He had a sore throat that night and spent his time waiting to perform chugging honey and water. The little bottle sat on the stage when they went on. Ofc he opened with Houdini, and when there was a gap in the song he talked about how it was his first time performing in Nashville and how cool it was to be in Nashville and he kept saying Nashville over and over lmao. Then he smiled at me, it was cool as shit man. It was really cool to see him in person let alone hear him perform live. I've liked his work since August of 2023, when I first got an ad for Sweet Oblivion on instagram. I'm so glad I got it, because his music has gotten me through a lot- both emotionally as well as been a fuel for art.
After the show, I ended up getting a picture with him and Erik and got to talk to the both of them. They're so chill. I asked how his throat was, and he talked about having chronic sinusitis and how he's had surgery for it and really just has to tough it out when it flares up. He's a very chill guy and was nice to talk to. He's also fucking huge, he's gotta be over 6ft tall. Again, very starstruck. Funniest part is this guy is like. 2 years? older than me. All fun.
It was a memorable experience and I'm planning to catch more of his shows in the future. I got a Sweet Oblivion shirt and two posters- his tour poster and Nashville poster. I ended up drawing a little thing for him to post with my concert pics, and he not only liked it but he commented on it and put it on his story. His sister, Summer, did too. I was very excited. One of my favorite singers + his awesome designer sister who made all his promotional work including album covers and posters. That whole family is cool fr. I hope he gets big, his music is truly unique. And when that happens, I have bragging rights in so many different departments >:)
If you just wanted to read about my septum, here it is [but if you read all of that, thank :) you should listen to his music and tell me your fav].
Official size up date was 8.28.25 which is just barely a week over 3 months. That was the most perfect wait time and size up I've done. Typically I'll have no pain or resistance initially, but then the next couple of days I'll end up with a tender nose and pain. So far, it's been very peaceful. I think 3 months is the sweet spot. Granted, I'm torn between saying at 8g and eventually going up to 6g. I really like this size, though. The bigger, the better type shift. I think I'll eventually try 6g, but not until early next year most likely. That one's a big jump. That's my next size up for my ears, and boy you can tell the difference. I gotta give it another, probably two, months before attempting that one.
I hope you enjoyed my rambling. I sure did. It's night for me, so I gotta log off. Until the next time I'm able to write. Goodnight!
