Aggretsuko S4 || SPOILERS

This will be a blog about Aggretsuko season 4 my reactions and my criticisms as well as praise for it along with summaries and I WILL include past seasons in this blog/review of the season ^___^ sadly my memory is poor and I might not get some things right especially talking about the past seasons !!

As of writing this 3 days ago Aggretsuko season 4 premiered and I watched the whole thing in a single day but was busy due to school and I couldn’t write a blog but winter break started so I can write one now I will write many more blogs of things that have happened !!

Summary: This whole season we were able to see the old CEO Shachou retire after almost 30 years in the trading firm and Shachou’s eventual return as CEO as well as the relationship between Retsuko and Haida fall apart but also heal again

Section 1: The CEO storyline

Part 1: Summary of everything 

Shachou the CEO of the trading firm that Retsuko works for gets hurt and he has to be in the hospital and assigns a new CEO to the trading firm which I think is the worst decision but also the best decision the company has had, The new CEO a white and grey dog named Himuro he is very much a more modern man and the first things he does as the brand new CEO is make Ton fire employees in the accounting department because it doesn’t gain much profit from the department but Ton refuses to do so, Outside of the office Fenneko and Retsuko go drinking and Himuro accidentally drives onto a puddle next to Fenneko and Retsuko resulting in both of them getting wet in Retsuko’s drunken state she goes and confronts the driver without realizing it’s his new boss Himuro he invites both of them to dinner and Retsuko along with Fenneko after drinking some more and eating as well as hearing Himuro bring up Ton they start complaining about Ton and how he bullies Retsuko during work Himuro records this and the next day Himuro sends Ton a letter of his new promotion as the chief of a new division made by Himuro and Ton goes to his new office alone due to his violent nature a new manager is assigned a guy named Yagyu. Due to Japan’s strict rules on firing employees the higher up’s decide to talk to employees and recommend them to quit and the company will find new employment for them as a benefit of quitting, Kabae is the first target of this new thing she doesn’t want to resign but they pressure her to leave the company after the new manager of the accounting department Yagyu bugs Kabae to have someone else pick up her child and take care of them because her child has a fever and tells Kabae to stay instead of leaving work early Retsuko Fenneko and Haida end up doing Kabae’s work for her to be able to pick her child up from daycare and take care of her child and Kabae eventually quitting. After Haida finishes his work quickly Himuro notices how Yagyu refuses Haida to turn in his work because he thinks Haida’s work is “Sloppy if you turn it in a hurry” Himuro finds out from Haida that he made a program to do his work for him and that the fail rate is 0 due to him using it for 3 years and not a single time the program has failed him after Himuro gets closer to Haida he promotes Haida to manager of the accounting department later for Haida to get his own office and along with Himuro do shady business practices and eventually Retsuko confronts Haida about it all and he admits that Himuro told him to window dress and that nobody has valued him or praised him more than Himuro so he agreed to do whatever Himuro said, The next day Haida confronts Himuro and they do an arm wrestling contest when Retsuko breaks in with a growl so loud that she launches both of them out the window saved by the ex-boss of Retsuko when she was in OTM Girls a cheeta named Hyoudou. Later Himuro steps down as the CEO and the old CEO Shachou comes back as CEO and Haida quits his job in the firm company but Kabae and Ton were re-hired

Part 2: My opinions

Everything was well written some things I didn’t write in the summary are how Retsuko gets the proof but I didn’t want to make the summary long + it will be in Haida’s section !!

Himuro at the start was someone who I didn’t really like but everything went downhill when he told Kabae to consider quitting her job even if she’s chatty she is a very bright person and I love her sm I get what Himuro was trying to do with the company and making it more “modern” and after everything he has done I think/I assume they were making more sales but also window dressed the results of what Retsuko calculated and added more which when Retsuko asked Ton about it he did say it was shady numbers which resulted in everything happening generally changes to the already existing characters is very risky thing to do but the way Aggretsuko does it is makes it more of an issue as well as important to the storyline and less “forced” but they do return which made me happy especially with Kabae and I don’t blame Haida for quitting his job especially after how shitty he was to everyone but I will miss him at the accounting department and I desperately hope that in S5 (most likely there’s gonna be a S5 or at least hopefully…) that Haida comes back to his job even after everything because it will be very strange to not see him at the office or if their going to replace him with someone else :[ but I really liked the new CEO arc

Section 2: Haida manager

Part 1: Summary

As stated in the first summary I will add extra parts that I didn’t add then !!

After Haida sees a humidifier near his desk left by a fearful Retsuko hiding behind a desk Haida gets a new office built that only he can access while it’s being built Retsuko is suspicious of the numbers in Haida’s desk when she went for the humidifier she gets help from Fenneko to get a USB drive and get the file from Haida’s computer and Ton helps both of them too and guesses the password to Haida’s computer which is his birthday and the password to the file after 3 guesses is RetsukoL0ve and they transferred the file to USB confirming that there’s shady stuff Haida is doing. After Haida’s office is built Ton suggests that they should get the original papers with the real numbers and to get his USB stick that he keeps in his office so they make a plan to have Hyoudou do Monica Kabae and Ton along with his wife help Retsuko to get the original USB stick when Haida is called to the lobby because auditors came to visit Retsuko gets the USB stick and gets the files from his computer and when Haida comes back after the “auditors” left he sees the USB back in the safe and that’s when Retsuko confronts Haida about the window dressing.

Part 2: My opinions

This was a little unrealistic but like this is the show where Retsuko gets into a J-pop group but besides that Haida turned into a shitty shitty person? Animal? Idk but still I get him not feeling validated by anyone before but like c’mon I feel like you know your rights from wrong Himuro was in the very wrong for telling Haida to window dress but like omfg Haida didn’t have to act so shady about it maybe if he left his desk the way it was and put a stronger password rather than RetsukoL0ve he would’ve been fine tbh like I don’t condone doing anything possibly illegal but at least do it right I really really expected at least a little better from Haida but S4 really made him to the worst person thing ever, He even told Retsuko “I know what I’m doing” like no you don’t.

Section 3: Retsuko’s return to fame

Part 1: Summary

After Ton quit his daughters begged Retsuko to help them because Tom just sits outside and doesn’t show up to work and so Retsuko went back to her channel from the past S3 and she uploaded her first video after 1 year of inactivity and she blows up with 2-3 Million views and hires Ton to help manage the channel with his daughters.

Part 2: my opinions

This isn’t that big of a plot point in the story but I’m glad that after all that Ton made Retsuko do and how much he bullied her when he was her boss she helped Ton and his daughters with a new job it was a very nice thing to see <3

Section 4: Retsuko and Haida

Part 1: Summary

After Retsuko moves apartments because of S3 where a crazy anti-fan almost harms her Haida suggests that Retsuko and him should walk home to make sure nothing happens after walking home Retsuko invites him in and he declines multiple times, Fenneko gets frustrated and calls Tsunoda who is also helping Fenneko with Haida and Retsuko they both say how Haida is being a coward because he keeps declining Retsuko’s offers. When Ton is about to hit 30 years since he joined the firm company Komiya asks Retsuko to get a gift for him Retsuko not knowing what to get she asks Fenneko and then she asks Tsunoda which she asks co-worker an orange fox called Ookami for help of what present to get, Fenneko asks Haida to help Retsuko with the gift after Ookami couldn’t help so Retsuko and Haida head to get a gift so Tsunoda makes Haida think of this as a date so Haida gets nervous as he helps Retsuko after Haida rejects any suggestions for gifts they end up going to a second hand shop and get a golden abacus, Without any other option Retsuko buys it and Haida invites Retsuko to dinner only to back out when Retsuko meets her former OTM girls band mate Monica, Haida says he had a friend waiting for him and that Haida almost stood him up and that Retsuko should catch up with Monica since they haven’t seen each other for so long and on Haida’s way home he sees his CEO Shachou fall over and hurt himself where he ends up in the hospital. Retsuko realizing that Haida has been lying to her they both slowly get distant eventually when Haida brings up dinner she closes the door on him and some nights later she tells Haida that she’s fine and he doesn’t need to walk her home. Haida goes to a record shop from S3 after having a music band session with his friends in the record shop he runs into Inui again and they have a drink before she leaves again. Haida’s suspicion between Retsuko and Tadano rises again after Retsuko says she is hanging out with some folks and Retsuko refuses to name who Haida confronts Tadano only for him to say that nothing is going on between him and “Retsy”. Retsuko overhears Fenneko and Tsunoda talking about Haida and her but after some time of thinking about Haida and her feelings Retsuko tells Haida their better off as friends and everything goes back to normal. After Haida quits his job in the company firm Retsuko and Haida see each other again and they both look at how Tadano is doing in a big screen (location could be Akihabara).

Part 2: My opinions

AHHHHHHHH dude it was progressing but not really some details I didn’t include because my memory is poor and idk where it goes in the timeline was when Fenneko and Haida start drinking and Haida gives up on Retsuko after 5 years and how Retsuko is not normal and she’s unordinary and then Fenneko shows Tsunoda the video that Fenneko recorded and Tsunoda had every right to get frustrated especially after 5 YEARS of liking Retsuko and he just gives up??? This is like the 2nd or 3rd time he goes back to the start like he got jealous when Retsuko and Tadano were going out and gave up on the only girl that ever liked him in his life for Retsuko like what the fuck???? Inui is sweet and the best girlfriend ever and then Haida just let her go for Retsuko and now he doesn’t want to be with her anymore?? I CANT with this dude [cry]

Section 5: Criticism

Despite Aggretsuko being one of my fave Netflix original anime + also one of my fave Sanrio anime this anime was and is supposed to be the life of an office worker but all of a sudden she has to figure out shit from her now ex-coworker and also became an idol at some point like yes it’s an anime but it kinda feels like their running out of ideas it does make it interesting and makes the plot move forward but still??? . Inui was one of my top 3 fave characters but in S3 she just leaves Haida’s house cause she saw a handkerchief in his bathroom and more than one cup and plate in the sink but in S4 she just straight up leaves and we no longer see Inui after that she doesn’t help Haida she doesn’t help Retsuko or anything she just talks to Haida gets kinda mad when he doesn’t remember that’s she’s a temp worker (temporary worker) and then boom leaves just vanished again. Tadano didn’t really help the plot a lot he was just kinda inserted because why not the storyline could’ve still worked if Tadano wasn’t there but had like background moments like when Haida sees him in the big screen probably somewhere in Akihabara or Tokyo but at least we see Tadano he wasn’t relevant to the plot a lot but it was nice to see him again. The donkey in S3 just never appeared again? We never got to know who it even was hope he comes back in S5 or smth I wanna see who the crazy mf is.

Section 6: Praise

Even when I gave criticism I also need to praise the show for even the unusual or unrealistic plots or stuck on characters it does a really nice job in doing the storyline smoothly some parts ARE confusing but it’s always like that in any show I watch but it’s fine. The way we get the same cast but in a new setting is very nice like I said it’s very risky to change the already pre-existing cast of characters but they do bring them back which I am very much grateful about it cause some other shows would just k!II them off instead of bringing them back. The animation is always good so I don’t have much to say besides how detailed the hair in Himuro as well as the thin lines but it doesn’t look bad? It’s kinda strange but not bad I’m not sure if I like it or not LMAO.

Section 7: Extra’s

OKAY BUT LIKE HIMURO AND WASHIMI’S FRIENDSHIP listen Himuro better come back and get with Washimi cause omfg- I’m not saying how opposite genders can’t be friends but no one can tell me that Himuro didn’t have at least a little crush on Washimi especially with the game they did of guessing the black tea and when Himuro said how Washimi probably made it with love if it was a certain tea (I don’t remember the name) unless it was not that and he was blushing I loved that tbh.

Haida this season was just the worst person ever. But Monica wasn’t she was the best I love her.

I have worked on this blog from 10(?)-3AM I probably worked on this for at least 3-5hrs I’m not sure but it’s definitely hours this was very fun but also exhausting if any work looks like it went down in quality especially in the summaries is because I got tired but I took a break and worked again my hands fingers and arms hurt but it was very fun good morning? Good night? I’m not sure but have a good time !!
