Late again. But it's fine! I've mostly been busy this month with cosplay making, to attend Animatsuri! It was on the 28th :D
As for how con prep went, it was... Stressful. I made a Katherine Elizabeth cosplay, specifically the monster slayer variant (black dress) from Empires SMP s2. First I planned out the silhouette with clothes I have at home, then made the pattern, and did some tests. I overall needed to redo the pattern... 3 times. It was a little annoying. After I finished the base dress I made the frills, and attached them to the neckline and bottom of the skirt. Making the dress took like, a little less than a week? It's a pretty simple dress.
After I was done with the dress, I made a couple accessories. After the accessories, I begun styling the wig. At this point I had only like a few hours before the con. I did some basic styling on the bangs, and realized I only have an hour to finish the wig, so I ended up compromising with little space buns instead of half up-half down twintails... Not all that accurate, but it looked nice. I think my only fumble was not shortening the bangs a lil.
As for the con, I only got an hour of sleep before it. Surprisingly I was fine. getting into cosplay took like 2 hours, and then I drove another 3 hours to get to Jerusalem. My sister also tagged along, she was in a deep sea girl miku cosplay. First two hours at the con, I spent almost all of my money. Money well spent in my opinion, I got one of my goal figures (luminasta luka) and a bunch of fun keychains and posters! I then just spent my time walking around the convention, saying hi to people I know, and meeting some new people. After I got myself some coffee someone stopped me and?? Actually somewhat recognized me?? It was crazy. This was like 2 hours before the convention finished. I spent the whole time just chatting to him about mostly hermitcraft and life series. After it was done, we exchanged discords and I drove home.
I got home at midnight. I just had some dinner, got out of cosplay, and went to sleep. I had laundry to do but I chose to leave it for tomorrow. Next day I was surprised to not wake up with any back or leg pain considering I had steel plate armor pushing on my ankles the whole 8 hours (from 1pm to 9pm) I was at the con.
Anyways, Animatsuri was awesome. Now onto the vocal synth releases! Sidenote- Miku's 18th anniv was on the 31st!! Happy (late) birthday Miku!! August is a typically inactive month due to that I assume, so I don't expect many commercial releases or voicebank ports. And again, reminder- I only report commercial song synths, I recommend looking at vocaDB to find new and upcoming UTAU or TTS voicebank releases if you want to check those out.
On the 29th, Asumi Shou and Asumi Ririse got Synthesizer V AI 2 voicebanks! I knew about these two since their first VOICEPEAK releases, so this is fun to see! Shou has a really cute design, I love the cherry blossom theming... However I do miss the cherry hairties, those are so cute. Ririse has a more pastel design, Which is a contrast to her darker TTS voicebank, but I think it's cute. I love the star and constellation theme. As for how they sound, they sound identical to their TTS voicebanks (expected, VOICEPEAK and Synthesizer V are from the same company). They work really well as singing voicebanks, I'm glad they finally got them!
And that's it. Again like I said, typically with voicebank releases/upgrades/ports, August is a pretty inactive month. But to be fair, it is Miku's month and no one shall dare to steal any attention from her!!1!1! Anyways, seeya next month! I'm definitely going to be massively late again, late September and first half of October are both gonna be pretty busy times for me.
