3rd Quarter Midway Reflection

Check out this post and more on my main blog website! https://lifeastwodirections.wordpress.com

We are already midway through the third quarter of 2025, and what a strange year it has been so far. Not in terms of events, for me personally anyway, but just generally the feelings I get for this year don’t seem like they will be the most fond in memory. Many great things have happened, don’t get me wrong, and I will speak on those things, but is anyone else feeling like 2025 is just “eh”?

Does anyone remember 2018 or 2019, when the new Stranger Things season came out over the summer and all of social media had an 80s resurgence? Summer nights felt so alive and it felt like the world was more vibrant, like that show set the scene for real life. Maybe that was just me being young, but I have a good lingering feeling about that time that brings about nostalgia, but I don’t think anything like that will happen for 2025.

For today’s reflective post, I’ll update my goals from the beginning of the year, explore what I’ve been up to during my absence from blogging, and what has currently been holding my attention.

Goal Update

Let’s see where I’m at with my completed goals for 2025:

  • I will sell 15 pieces of clothing on Depop
  • I will reach a healthy mental space by continuing therapy
  • I will do right by others and prioritize accruing good karma
  • I will express my creativity by sitting down at my desk and drawing/sewing/painting at least once a week

Well, it appears I have failed many of my goals with no chance for retribution, but that’s alright haha! I will be referencing some of the goals I haven’t completed or failed, so if you’d like the full list, click here.

I ended up quitting my healthcare job entirely at the beginning of July and pivoted entirely to working on my small business. Deciding to step away from being an in home caregiver was not a decision that was easy for me, despite having growing issues that would sit heavy on my chest and create a lot of anxiety. So I have not succeeded in having multiple fulfilling streams of income, but I am working on it. I have sold over 30 pieces of clothing on my depop, and I have been selling hand made smell good items. You win some and you lose some.

I have continued therapy. I haven’t been doing too bad, but I feel like when I don’t go to therapy I feel like the world is ending, then I go and I’m like “Everything is fine sorry for wasting your time!” Once I start going back to classes and life picks up though, I know I will start to feel stressed out. Overall, I am glad that I have continued to go. I have found a therapist that doesn’t immediately resort to medication and that has helped a lot.

I have been painting many freshies, which are homemade car air fresheners, making my own laundry detergent, and exploring my creative side on Canva. I recently found a tutorial on a cork board wallpaper and I made one for myself and my boyfriend, I will look forward to sharing my monthly wallpaper boards because it was so fun to make. If you want to see the original creator’s work and tutorial, they are @alliii.lol on TikTok!

What I’ve Been Up To

I’ve had a very chill summer this year. I’ve just been hanging out with my boyfriend and my new furry friend lately. In May I helped him move an hour away, and he has been showing me Final Fantasy. We started with his favorite, Final Fantasy X, then we moved on to the first part of the remastered Final Fantasy VII. I’ve actually been liking the stories so far, but the fighting not so much haha. I’m just here for the cutscenes and pretending I’m watching a movie.

On July 13th, my mom and I got mini schnauzer puppies! I got a girl who I named Tori, and my mom got a boy named Wyatt Oak, but I call him Mr. Beefy. They’ve been home with us for about a month and they have already grown so much, Mr. Beefy especially. They’ve already learned so many tricks such as sit, lay down, crawl, wait, come, and spin.

The first week of being a pet parent was rough, I got next to no sleep, but Tori has started to sleep for more than 2 hours at night so it has helped a lot. My therapist always wants me to bring her to my appointments and she just takes a nap in my lap.

I spent some time with my little sister, on the 4th of July and when we went to Missouri to see cousins for a birthday party. She’s wild and loves playing games on her iPad. She has a cat simulator game where she abuses a poor grandma and she goes nuts throwing things off the counters as a cat. She is in first grade now and I can’t believe it. This 16 year age gap makes me feel ancient.

I started college on the 18th, and I only have one in person class, Geology. I hate chemistry so I’m hoping that it wont be too heavy in the chemistry side of rocks and minerals. I am also taking an online Spanish class and I wish it was a class actually taught by the instructor over Zoom or something. This course is pretty much completely student led and if I didn’t take 3 years of Spanish in high school I would be lost completely. Maybe I’m just not used to online classes, but my online nutrition class was the exact same way.

Looking Towards Autumn

I am so ready for the fall season to start and the weather to cool down. We’ve gotten some cold fronts this summer in Arkansas, but the rest of the summer has been humid and hot. Spooky season will be upon us soon, and I am so tempted to put out the few Halloween decorations I have. I feel like the people who put up their Christmas tree as early as possible, but for Halloween. The whole season has the best vibes of the year in my opinion, but I will hold off on the decorations until September. There’s only about a week and a half left of August, and this year has gone by in a blur for me.

How are you feeling about Summer wrapping up? Let me know and I will see you soon!
