have you ever had someone tell you that you're a "poser" for something? let me break it down for you. (coming from a former poser so i should know)
the people calling you poser are probably those wonky ass so-called "metalheads" who think with their asses and only listen to some cranky goremetal band called "i put my fetus in the freezer and ate it" with like 3 monthly listeners. here's how to REALLY know if you are poser-like or just a person who is intelligent and smart.
1. if you have ever listened to a band that isn't of any genre that your friends listen to, you start listening to the band and really like it, but what are your frineds gonna think about it? here's the first flaw,
if you are activly afraid of what people might think to the point where you feel pressured to not listen to the music you ACTUALLY like and start listening to that cranky band, this is a slight poser-warning. listening to music you don't like just because your friends listen to it, it's gonna cause a trouble for you if you listen to music you find nothing but ass. it's like faking a cold to your parents to be able to skip school.
2. if you start wearing a style that has to do with politics (as an example: punk or the post punk, gothic style), and don't agree with their movement or thoughts, this is a poser-action. if you're nothing like them, and still dress and act like them, you're posing as one of them and that means: poser.
you can't be wearing a style if it has politic views you don't agree with, that's like a wolf disguising as a sheep, an opponent acting like a teammate, you get it. this is not a gppd thing to do.
meanwhile, you can listen to their music, as long as you like it. music is for everybody. even you. if you like the goth music, but don't agree with their politics, you cannot call yurself goth. if you listen to emo music, and don't dress emo, you can still potentially call yourself emo.
3. if you pretend to know every single topic of a metal band you JUST started listeing to, this is a poser-warning. knowledge takes time, and you have to stop trying to impress people with your made.up wisdom and actually start studying.
4. do you ONLY listen to the mainstream bands like the smiths, the cure, nirvana, metallica, megadeth, etc.? that has nothing to do if you are poser or not, unless if you dont like it. popular bands are popular for a reason, and the people calling you poser for listening to metallica or megadeth, they are just trying to impress you because they listen to that cranky band with 3 listeners in a month.

People are so over with the fact that you just started listening to any popular band like system of a down instead of some niche shitty band founded in 1998 with 36 studio albums ane 37 monthly spotify listeners named "drained ball sack"
People should listen to music cuz they enjoy it, not to build a music taste to flex on normies that they waste time listening to men screaming

to be honest in my opinion every metalhead who uses the word "poser" unironically is either some sweaty 50 year old looser or a kiddo who started listening to Mayhem yesterday and is going through kind of a phase lol
bro yes!! my ex-friends are like that. they listen to a local band who no ones knew existed and hate on every other genre than goremetal and hates on poeple for liking other music bro

yeah man that sucks, because of community of these loosers I saw myself slowly getting tired of genres I really love like brutal death metal or slam, when I kinda cut myself out of that community I enjoy this genres still to this day. I don't understand why they hate on other genres of music and metal tho, jumpstyle, hardstyle or hardtek are heavy as fuck and I love that hardcore EDM scene, Rap? Hell yeah give me Three Six Mafia, Paktofonika, Kaliber 44, Nu Metal? Oh brother I grew up on that genre, I can spend hours searching for some underground Nu Bands to listen to lmao

yes exactly!! they never educate themselves on thetopics of genres. i personally listen to virtual kei (which is a subgenre for death metal, glam metal, thrash metal and so on). like as an example, dadaroma is like death or slayer and i love dadaroma!! i listen to commy cash, and he's a type of hardcore. and it's like those losers never know anything about music other than when qourthon in bathory shat in the year 1989 on a tuesday in december

exactly lol, its kinda best to isolate yourself from the community of metal, at least in those extreme subgenres cause you can just get really dissapointed in people XD
