Learning Makeup (and How Not to Be Ashamed)

I’m a 19-year-old guy, and this year I finally moved out on my own for university. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to dress a certain way. I wouldn’t really know how to define my style—I just pick out things I like. I love fingerless gloves, chains, and spiked bracelets.

I’ve also always wanted to try makeup, but honestly, I don’t know where to start, and it scares me a little. What holds me back the most is what my friends might say. Even if they’d only tease me jokingly, it would still make me feel sad. A few days ago, I worked up the courage to buy some eyeshadow and a red lipstick. I tried them out, but honestly, I just looked like a clown at first, which got me a little down. Later, I gave it another shot, and it turned out a bit better—good enough that I decided to go outside wearing it. I just went to buy some random stuff at a local shop, and everything went fine. While I was at it, I even picked up an eyelash curler.

It still makes me feel a little embarrassed just thinking about it, but I guess with enough practice, I’ll get there xD
